CBS has released the synopsis for the Tracker Season 3 finale, titled “The Best Ones.” In the episode, “Colter and Russell search for a victim of a nefarious research project.” The finale episode airs Sunday, May 24, on CBS.
Who Does Jensen Ackles Play on Tracker?
On Tracker, Ackles plays Russell Shaw, who is the estranged older brother of Justin Harley’s main character, Colter Shaw. Colter is an Army veteran who works in private security.
Ackles debuted as Russell earlier in Tracker Season 3. Colter revealed what he had learned about the death of his and Russell’s father, and then the two teamed up to find a missing person.
Russell quickly became a popular character with fans, who will likely be happy to hear he’s back in the season finale. It certainly fulfills the hopes expressed previously by Tracker executive producer Elwood Reid.
“Who knows what the future holds?” Reid had said. “I love writing for Jensen, and I think he and Justin are so good together. There’s just a chemistry that those two have. It would be fun to continue to play with Jensen in our world or in a possible world of his own.”
“I mean, one can always hope,” Reid added. “That’s me shamelessly planting little things for the studio network to pick up on. Normally, in those cases, it just felt natural because why is this guy just available to go help out his brother?
What Is Tracker About?
Tracker stars Hartley as survivalist Colter Shaw. In Tracker Season 3, following last season’s explosive finale, Colter is wrestling with hard truths about his family’s history. In the wake of these shocking revelations, with help from his trusted team, Colter must put the past in the rearview to focus on what he does best: using his instincts and survival skills to find the missing and collect rewards.
While Hartley leads the series, with Fiona Rene co-starring as Reenie Greene, Tracker has undergone several cast shakeups over the course if its run thus far. Robin Weigert left the series after Season 1, and Season 2 experienced cast turnover, with several regular cast members departing. Tracker Season 3 added Kathleen Robertson and Mark Engelhardt in recurring roles, along with Ackles.
