Big Bang Theory fans could be seeing one of their favorite characters sooner than expected.

HBO has confirmed that The Big Bang Theory spin-off series Stuart Fails to Save the Universe will be coming to screens soon.

The streamer announced the new series will debut this summer and even shared the month the spin-off would be arriving.

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe will be focusing on The Big Bang Theory’s comic book store owner Stuart Bloom (played by Kevin Sussman), who has to restore reality after he breaks a device created by scientists Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) and Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki).

After breaking the machine, Stuart threatens to bring about the multiverse armageddon and must work to stop this from happening.

Stuart won’t be alone in his mission with his girlfriend Denise (Lauren Lapkus), geologist friend Bert (Brian Posehn), and quantum physicist Barry Kripke (John Ross Bowie) all helping him.

During their weird and wonderful journey through time and space, the unlikely group will encounter alternate-universe versions of characters audiences have come to know and love from The Big Bang Theory.

But it’s worth keeping in mind that from the title, things won’t be ending well.

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe has been written and produced by the Big Bang Theory’s co-creators Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady and Zak Penn.

HBO dropped some first-look images, one of which shows Stuart holding a machine, which could be the all-important device he breaks, and stands with his friends looking shocked.

Another picture shows Stuart and Denise in a jungle-like landscape, standing by a body of water.

Yet another sees Stuart and his companions in the middle of what looks like a conflict zone as soldiers open fire.

There’s no word yet on whether some of the main players from the Big Bang Theory will be reprising their roles, despite both Sheldon and Leonard getting name checked in the synopsis.

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe marks the second spin-off from the long-running and multi-award-winning sitcom.

The prequel was set in the late 80s to the early 90s and ran for seven seasons between 2017 and 2024.
