With the Everybody Loves Raymond 30th Anniversary Reunion arriving on November 24, 2025, on CBS at 8pm EST, many fans are looking back at the Barone family, and wondering what they’ve been up to in the two decades since the series called it quits. While some of the show’s stars, like Ray Romano and Brad Garrett, have remained familiar presences on the small screen, others, like Monica Horan, who played Amy MacDougall Barone, Brad Garrett’s partner, have been a bit quieter. But the actress has remained busy — both in appearing in guest star roles on shows like Enlightened and The Middle, and in projects related to the family she has raised with husband and Everybody Loves Raymond creator Phil Rosenthal.
Horan, now 62, studied theater at Hofstra University, where she met Phil Rosenthal, then a fellow student. The two became friends and eventually married in 1990, before he ever imagined developing a sitcom based on his own life. The actress landed small roles on shows like L.A. Law and Coach in the early ’90s, before Everybody Loves Raymond hit the air in 1996.
When the show took off in the mid-1990s, Rosenthal brought Horan onto the series in a recurring role, and audiences quickly embraced her as Robert’s love interest; the two characters eventually married.
She has often said that the cast felt like family and that the writers drew directly from real-life experiences, which made the work feel natural and often very personal. She also said she valued her time on the show because “it has given me time with my husband.”
After the series finale, Horan continued acting; her longest running role was as Kieran Cannistra on eight episodes of The Bold and the Beautiful between 2016 and 2019. She’s also appeared in single episodes of Better Things, The Middle, Enlightened and Hot in Cleveland.
She also remained connected to her husband’s creative work, appearing in episodes of his travel-and-food series, Somebody Feed Phil.
