Torrey DeVitto isn’t likely to return to Chicago Med for season 10, but she should!

The season 8 finale of Chicago Med delivered a two-pronged surprise. The first was that Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) would be leaving the show, and the second was that Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) was coming back to help him move to Seattle.

It was a wonderful capper to the Halstead and Manning romance, which had its fair share of bumps over the years. It was much happier circumstances that the first time Manning left, and seeing her back on the small screen was a reminder of how much DeVitto brings to the show.

Torrey DeVitto claims that Med was a big part of her life

It probably helped that DeVitto was thrilled to be back. “I loved it,” she explained to People Magazine. “I wanted them to end up together so badly… And so it was because he was leaving, I was just like, we need to give this to all of the Manstead fans out there.”

In a separate interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actress noted that Natalie Manning will always be one of her most cherished characters:

She will always be such a big part of me. It was a joy getting to step back into her [shoes].

Given that Halstead and Manning got their happy ending, it’s important that the Med writers not undo it. That being said, we’d love to see a world in which Manning returns to Gaffney Medical Center, even if it was only one episode, to see some of her old friends.

DeVitto is still friends with Med cast members

The character didn’t get a ton of time to interact with her former co-workers in the season 8 finale, and given how much DeVitto enjoyed returning to the show, it would stand to reason that she would have just as much fun doing it again.

The biggest hurdle, of course, is a reason as to why. The character is living a happy life in Seattle with her son and Halstead, so there would have to be a very specific reason as to why she would drop by the medical center in another state. Plus, DeVitto is still friends with Gehlfuss and the of the Chicago Med cast.

It’s highly unlikely that Manning will ever appear on Chicago Med again, but we maintain that it would absolutely wonderful if she did.
