Boston Blue may be about hardened cops, but off-screen, several stars of the new CBS procedural are in loving relationships.
Donnie Wahlberg, for example, has been married to his wife Jenny McCarthy since 2014, which he says makes him feel “so happy. So grateful. So blessed.”
When Blue Bloods ended after 14 seasons, Wahlberg, who played Detective Danny Reagan, “fought tooth and nail to keep it on the air,” he told CBS Sunday Morning in October 2025. So, he jumped when “an opportunity to keep this character alive” presented itself with the spinoff Boston Blue.
The drama, which debuts on Oct. 17, features Danny after a transfer from New York to Boston, where he meets new personas, portrayed by actors Sonequa Martin-Green, Ernie Hudson, and Maggie Lawson. In addition, Danny sees familiar faces, including his younger sister Erin Reagan, played by Bridget Moynahan.
McCarthy couldn’t be prouder of her husband’s “fun next chapter,” and shared a sweet Instagram post to show her support in May 2025 when the spinoff was announced.
“Congrats to my husband [Donnie] for this amazing opportunity to bring more joy to so many people who watch you,” she wrote. “Boston Blue is no doubt going to shine with your leadership and big, giant heart. So proud of you, mister.”
Here’s everything to know about the real-life loves of the Boston Blue cast.

Donnie Wahlberg played Danny on Blue Bloods for 14 years, and now he’s bringing his character to Massachusetts for Boston Blue.
While Danny lost his Blue Bloods wife, Linda Regan (played by Amy Carlson) to a helicopter crash in season 8, his real-life marriage has been going strong for over a decade.
Wahlberg and Jenny McCarthy met on Watch What Happens Live in 2012 and married on Aug. 31, 2014. Since then, they’ve renewed their vows every year.
“I’ll round a corner, and I’m in sweatpants and my hair [undone] and no makeup, and then there’s the pastor and a violinist … he’ll surprise me every year,” McCarthy told Kelly Ripa on her Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast in 2024. “Now we’re going on 10 years, so … Ten vow renewals.”
The pair shares a blended family with three kids: Wahlberg has two sons, Xavier and Elijah, whom he shares with his ex Kimberly Fey, while McCarthy has a son, Evan, from her previous marriage to actor-director John Asher.
Wahlberg and McCarthy live in Illinois, where they own a five-bedroom Tudor. “When we first met, we talked about how we both longed to have a small-town life with our kids,” they told ENTERT. “And here we are, together with our kids, and we’re grateful for every bit of it.
Bridget Moynahan and Andrew Frankel

Bridget Moynahan played Danny’s sister, Erin, in Blue Bloods, and she reprised that role for a guest appearance on the premiere of Boston Blue.
While her character had a complicated on-and-off relationship with ex-husband Jack Boyle (Peter Hermann), on Blue Bloods that may continue on the new spinoff, her real-life marriage to businessman Andrew Frankel is anything but.
The actress has been married to Frankel since 2015. At the time, she said on The Rachael Ray Show that he was “the nicest guy ever,” describing him as “genuine, kind and sensitive.”
Though the couple doesn’t share any children together, they have a blended family of kids from their previous relationships.
Moynahan shares son Jack with NFL legend Tom Brady. Meanwhile, Frankel has three boys from a previous relationship, whose names he keeps private.

Danny’s new partner on Boston Blue is Lena Silver, played by Sonequa Martin-Green, but Martin-Green’s real-life partner is Kenric Green.
The dynamic duo met while working on a theater production in 2009, and married the following year. They famously worked together on The Walking Dead, in which she played Sasha Williams, and he portrayed Scott.
In 2025, the couple opened up to ENTERT about how they keep their 15-year marriage strong by “recommitting [themselves] daily,” no matter how they change through the years.
“You’re marrying that person, but that’s not who you’re going to stay married to because that person is going to change and they’re going to be completely different a year from now, five years from now, 10 years from now and so are you,” Martin-Green said.
In addition to working on a production together, the couple share two children: son Kenric Justin II and daughter Saraiyah Chaunté.
Ernie Hudson and Linda Kingsberg

Hudson plays Reverend Edwin Peters on Boston Blue, but at home, he is married to his longtime wife, Linda Kingsberg.
The pair tied the knot in 1985 and they welcomed two sons together, Andrew and Ross. Hudson is a father to two older children from his previous marriage to Jeannie Moore.
Hudson was admittedly reserved about the idea of getting married a second time, but his love for Kingsberg changed that.
“We were together for basically nine years before I finally said, ‘You know what? We’re together. So let’s just go ahead and marry,’ ” he recalled.

Black-ish and Grown-ish actor Marcus Scribner is trading comedy for drama as he joins the cast of Boston Blue as rookie cop Jonah Silver, but his personal life is far more lighthearted.
Though Scribner keeps details private, he has teased a relationship on Instagram. In August 2025, he posted a photo showing his feet alongside a woman in red cowgirl boots with the caption, “She said she wanted a cowboy.”
He stunned fans weeks later by seemingly announcing his engagement with a photo tucked into a September 2025 Instagram carousel. In the snap, he’s holding a woman’s hand that has a unique diamond ring on her left ring finger.
