Intelligence Unit newcomer Officer Eva Imani (Ari Mandi) has wasted no time emerging as one of the squad’s most tenacious investigators as she continues to search for her missing sister on Season 13 of Chicago P.D.
Season 13’s “The Lost Years” was an emotional rollercoaster as Imani teamed up with her commanding officer, Sgt. Hank Voight (Jason Beghe), to work through some of her leads about her long-lost sister, Shari Imani. It had been more than 20 years since Shari was kidnapped, so Imani’s sister could still be with her abductor or just as easily sold to a new pimp. Shari alsos could have gotten lost along the way, either due to addiction or worse. The leads weren’t strong, but they were something to work with, and Imani was desperate for long-overdue closure.
“She could be anywhere, anything, but I swear, I’d know her if I saw her. I’d still know her,” Imani said as she and Voight worked the angles.
After years of fruitless searching, Imani and Voight finally got a visual on Shari after finding a photo of Imani’s sister on a murdered sex worker’s cell phone. With a reignited trail, Imani was willing to move mountains to track down and save Shari, leading to a tearful reunion between the estranged sisters.
Eva Imani had the most heartbreaking reunion with her sister, Shari
Imani was feeling the pressure after narrowly losing a suspect, the pimp who had long had Shari under his thumb. While speeding through the Chicago streets in pursuit, Imani got a call from Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar).
“I’ve got her, she’s secure,” Torres assured her. “We’ve got her, Imani. We’ve got her.”
Imani eagerly headed to the Intelligence Unit, learning from Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) that Shari was safe inside. “We waited for you,” Platt explained.
Imani walked through the Intelligence Unit in a daze while making her way toward where Shari was being held, unable to connect with her colleagues while grappling with the decades of time away from her sister. After all of these years, Imani was finally going to be reunited with Shari. Not even 48 hours prior, Imani hadn’t known Shari was alive, but now, her sister was behind a door.

The silence was deafening as Imani entered the room and laid eyes on Shari, all grown up and looking lost and confused. Imani didn’t say anything as she gave her sister time to adjust. But Shari just stood there, completely unaware of why a cop had pulled her in for questioning.
“Who the hell are you?” Shari asked, completely unaware that it was her sister staring back at her.
How the Intelligence Unit pulled off a miracle manhunt
After Imani and Voight’s search for Shari led them to find the dead body of a sex worker, Imani was shocked to find a photo of Shari on the deceased’s phone. Imani was right; it had been years, but she instantly recognized her sister on the phone’s lock screen. While working on the sex worker’s homicide investigation, Imani questioned everyone she could to see if they knew Shari.
Sure enough, several people knew about Shari, as she was “married” to her longtime pimp, Kirby. Shari had decided to make the most of her predicament by robbing random johns who hired her, leading Shari to create quite a helpful trail of those who’d crossed her path. After many dead ends and hopeful moments, the Intelligence Unit was able to successfully track down Kirby, but he fled the scene.
While Imani wasn’t successful in arresting the elusive Kirby, the Intelligence Unit was able to celebrate the biggest win of all: saving Shari from a horrible situation and reuniting Imani with her estranged sister. Both Imani and Shari were robbed of decades of memories and time together, but it’s time for the sisters to play a multi-decade game of catch-up as the Intelligence Unit gets to the bottom of it.
