He is the unfortunate victim of a bomb explosion, and shortly afterward, he begins to have severe hearing loss.

Christopher Hermann has been one of the few characters who has been a part of all the 12 seasons of Chicago Fire. He is a veteran firefighter who also owns a bar. Season 12 ended with him asking to take over as the chief of Firehouse 51 after Boden left his post. Hermann is married to Cindy and has five kids on the show.
