Chicago Med is set to lose a major cast member as it heads into season 10.
As reported by Deadline, Dominic Rains will not be reprising his role as Dr Crockett Marcel as the show heads into its next run.
The news may not be a huge surprise, as the season 9 finale saw a chain of events occur that led to Dr Marcel admitting that he never really took any time off to grieve his daughter’s death.
While the actor, who has been on the show since season 5, won’t be a part of the cast, the publication states that a cameo appearance isn’t completely off the table.
Behind the scenes, showrunners Diane Frolov and Andy Schneider are also departing after nine years at the helm. Allen MacDonald is set to step up and take charge.
Meanwhile, three actors are leaving sister show Chicago Fire ahead of its upcoming 13th season: Eamonn Walker – who plays Chief Wallace Boden, Derrick Gibson actor Rome Flynn, and Kara Killmer, who stars as Sylvie Brett.
Flynn, however, has stated that the door isn’t completely shut for his character.
“Just like all the fans, I was sad to see Gibson leave. He was a character I very much enjoyed playing,” he said. “I had a wonderful experience during my time on Chicago Fire and have great respect for the cast and crew and hope to team up with Dick Wolf again when the time is right.”
Killmer seems to be pretty done, however, as she stated that: “I’m very excited to see what else is out there on the horizon. There’s a lot of interesting content that’s being created right now. And I’m very satisfied with where things end up for Sylvie on Fire.”
