Good news for Chicago Fire fans! All three NBC shows have officially been renewed.
Though the world of One Chicago has seen a myriad of changes and cast absences in the past year, the NBC procedurals remain a successful fixture of the network.
Following the exciting news – Wolf Entertainment’s three Law & Order series were also renewed – Wolf said in a statement: “I’m pleased to continue my four-decade relationship with Universal Television and NBC.”
He added: “All six shows being picked up again is the ultimate accolade to our incredible casts, producers and writers. I’d also like to thank our loyal fans who have kept our NBC shows on the air for what will be a cumulative 84 seasons.”
The news comes after a year full of change for the franchise, concerning both the brains behind the shows and its actors.
Chicago Fire co-creator and co-writer Derek Haas is set to exit at the end of the current season, leaving Wolf Entertainment as a whole, while its star Taylor Kinney remains on temporary leave due to an undisclosed personal matter. He has not been on the show since last appearing on the February 22nd episode.
At the time, the actor explained to Variety he felt ready to move on: “I really wanted to grow and expand, and we’ve only got this one trip. If I signed up again, it would have been for another three years. I would have turned 40 on the show.
“I thought, ‘You know what? It’s time to take a risk.’ It was one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever had to make in my life,” he explained.
