The Conners star Michael Fishman and his wife of almost 20 years Jennifer Briner are legally separating, according to TMZ. The pair have two children together and wed in 1999, when Michael was 18.
The outlet allegedly obtained documents that show Michael and Jennifer are in midst of dividing their assets and seeking joint custody of their 16-year-old daughter (their son is 19). On top of that, TMZ says Michael revealed that their split is “an amicable one.”
The couple started splitting up in June 2017 but were delayed when Roseanne was abruptly canceled in May 2018.
The news came as an absolute shock to Conners fans; many took to Twitter to express how sad they were. The announcement is especially surprising given the way Michael talked about his wife in an interview in March 2018
“My wife is my hero because my kids’ academic success is undoubtedly due to her dedication when they were little,” the 37-year-old actor explained. “We talk about everything and anything — I am often the most uncomfortable.”
The same day that reports surfaced about their separation, Michael posted a picture on Twitter with his two children captioned “family breakfast”:
Michael and Jennifer have yet to speak out about their decision to separate publicly.
