Alexis Ohanian is all in on collecting Serena Williams rookie cards. Not only does he have a full collection of his wife’s cards, but at the same time, he is the man who made it the most expensive women’s sports card! Recently, Williams’ husband revealed his silly act, as he turned all ego to beat Anna Kournikova and bring his wife to the top.
Recently, the American entrepreneur appeared on the ‘Best of Both Worlds with Flau’jae,’ podcast, where he talked in detail about trading cards. While discussing his habit of collecting his wife’s cards, Ohanian revealed that there was a time when Kournikova’s rookie cards were more expensive than the ‘greatest of all time’ Williams cards.
He stated, “I found Serena’s rookie card – this was like six years ago – was selling for less than Anna Kournikova. And I looked at that and I was like this makes no sense, but the market was undervaluing it because it was predominantly dorky dudes, who probably had maybe a Kournikova poster on their wall in college and just were totally mispricing the value of the greatest of all time.”
Further, Ohanian added, “So I quietly started buying all of them. I mean, I have thousands and thousands and thousands but I got them for a song. And over the years I started blabbing, a lot more on podcasts and stuff about doing it so the price has now gone up, and Serena does have the most expensive all of the most expensive women’s sports cards.”
Ohanian has been on a dedicated quest to acquire as many of his wife’s rarest trading cards and collectibles as possible. He submitted more than 7,000 things to the Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) in his pursuit. Of them, almost 3,000 were classified as “The Serena Collection,” for which PSA was awarded its esteemed Pedigree designation.
However, there was a time during this phase, when even the 23-time Grand Slam champion was done with her husband’s hobby. In the past, Ohanian revealed that his closet was overtaken by cards. Along with that, while talking about the moment, he said, “Serena was like … ‘Can you do something about this?’ The ratio of clothes to cards in my closet is still not good. By definition, I’m not sure it’s a closet anymore.”
On the other hand, a few months ago, Ohanian’s favorite rookie card came out in a discussion over his vast tennis card collection of the 23-time Grand Slam champion.

Ohanian posted something from ALT, a contemporary trading card marketplace, on his Instagram stories, later revealing his favorite card. According to the social media post, Ohanian’s favorite is the 2018 Employee Exclusive Patch Auto.
Along with that, the video narrator said, “This is actually Alexis’ favorite card. And it’s the 2018 Employee Exclusive Patch Auto. But he loves it because this is a photo of her in the 2017 Australian Open, where she was pregnant with Olympia. So this is his favorite card by far.“
