Tom Selleck Gets Real About ‘Fighting’ With Bridget Moynahan on ‘Blue Bloods’

Whether it’s a small spat or a total blow up, feuding with a family member is certainly never a fun experience, and Blue Bloods characters Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) and Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) know that feeling all too well.

Over the years—especially during season 9—they have definitely had their fair share of disagreements. Although the tense scenes can be stressful to watch, Tom recently revealed he actually enjoys filming the awkward moments.

“The most fun scenes are when [Frank and Erin] are fighting,” the former Magnum P.I. star told TV Insider. Although they always seem to make up in the end, the conflicts between the father and daughter won’t end anytime soon. “They’re going to continue to disagree,” he added.

Just like how newly engaged couple Jamie Reagan (Will Estes) and Eddie Janko (Vanessa Ray) struggle to balance their personal and professional lives, Frank and Erin also find their relationship to be a problem at work. Because Frank is the police commissioner, and Erin the bureau chief of the district attorney’s office, the power struggle between the two is constantly a big factor behind their fights.

“She’s had to learn to deal with the PC [police commissioner] as an equal who happens to be her father,” Bridget told the outlet.

Although Frank is her dad, Erin clearly isn’t afraid to confront him—and the producers have a reason for that. The procedural likes to show how the ladies can hold their own.

“It’s an absolute fact that the women on the show are very strong, and that’s something that has always been important for us,” Tom said.
