Gordon Ramsay was once a professional football player. Because he had a serious injury, he switched to a career as a chef.
Which club is Gordon Ramsay a fan of?
Gordon Ramsay, star of the shows Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares and Hell’s Kitchen, was once a professional soccer player.
He is a big fan of the Glasgow Rangers club and was often present at the stadium to watch matches of the Scottish team when he was a child.
Young Gordon Ramsay started playing football regularly and realized he had some talent.
“I played very well,” Ramsay told Observer Sport Monthly magazine. “I’m a fierce left-back and cut the ball very well. I’m very fast, a great 100m runner. If you compare me to anyone, it’s probably Stuart Pearce.”
Which football team did Gordon Ramsay play for?
Gordon Ramsay played for the youth team of Oxford United (England). When he was spotted by Rangers scouts, his family returned to Scotland so Gordon could join the club’s Academy.
“My father is a Rangers fan and is extremely proud of me. But those were very difficult and stressful days. I didn’t know if I would be successful as a football player or not,” the chef confessed.
“The matches were really violent, not like the football we see today,” he added. And proof of that is that Ramsay suffered a serious knee injury and had to stop competing.
Although Ramsay claims to have played for the Rangers first team three times, there is no documentation to prove that. He actually attended a match in September 1985, in which he was noted as a trial player for Rangers.
Ramsay often participates in Soccer Aid charity matches. He has achieved enormous success in the field of cooking. He has received three Michelin stars and according to Forbes, he earned $62 million in 2018.
David Beckham’s close friend
David Beckham and Gordon Ramsay are close friends. Their family used to go on vacation and celebrate Christmas together.
Beckham and Ramsay’s friendship began when the super chef served the Beckham family’s pre-World Cup party in 2006. When Beckham moved to Los Angeles, the two families grew closer together, because they were both British in America.
In 2013, Beckham wanted to invest in a restaurant in Gordon Ramsay’s London. The former England midfielder also helped his chef friend recover from a serious injury.
