Look Who’s Scrubbing In! See the First Glimpse at Chicago Med’s Hot New Doctor

Two more doctors are heading to Gaffney Chicago Medical Center for Season 10. Chicago Med, which has dealt with quite a cast turnover in recent seasons, has added two new (but familiar) faces as series regulars for the upcoming season of the One Chicago drama. But who are the new cast members and what roles will they be playing?

Who Are the New Chicago Med Season 10 Cast Members?

TVLine reports Sarah Ramos, better known for Parenthood and Darren Barnet better known for Never Have I Ever have both joined the cast as series regulars for Season 10. Ramos will be playing Dr. Caitlin Lenox, while Barnet will be playing Dr. John Frost. Deadline also reported Lenox is an ED Attending poised to get Gaffney Medical into shape while Frost is a pediatric resident who is harboring a secret. We don’t much more about either, but the ED has been feeling very light in the past few seasons, so just the knowledge that there will be more people to help out feels like a good omen for the show in general.

The little we do know comes from a BTS video from the set posted by Barnet. In it, he’s donning the signature maroon-colored scrubs worn by many of our favorite ED doctors, and he’s talking about his favorite things about his character. “If I was a doctor, I don’t think I’d ever stop playing with this (as he holds up the stethoscope) or this (as he holds up a flashlight pen) or this (as he plays with his drawstring badge),” Barnett jokes as he shows off his look. “That’s probably why I’d never be a doctor. I’d also never make it through med school,” he admits as the video trails off before he can go into the many reasons why he wouldn’t be a doctor.

The two additions come as the show is biding goodbye to Dominic Rains’ Dr. Crockett Marcel, who was a series regular on the show since Season 5. In the Season 9 finale, Dr. Marcel had a conversation with Maggie about one of his patients, a young boy who died, and then the father committed suicide, which led him to admit to her that he had never taken the time to stop and deal with the death of his daughter. At the end of the episode, viewers were left to wonder if Rains would be returning to Gaffney Chicago Medical Center or not.Marcel hasn’t been the only departure, with the show seeing the likes of Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss), Ethan Choi (Brian Tee), Dylan Scott (Guy Lockard), Pamela Blake (Sarah Rafferty), Vanessa Taylor (Asjha Cooper) and April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) among the characters departing the show in recent seasons.

Chicago Med Season 10 will also see the return of original cast members S. Epatha Merkerson (aka Sharon Goodwin), Oliver Platt (Dr. Daniel Charles), and Marlyne Barrett (Maggie Lockwood, alongside Luke Mitchell (Dr. Mitch Ripley), Jessy Schram (Dr. Hannah Asher) and Steven Weber (Dr. Dean Archer).

Ramos has appeared not only on Parenthood but also on Midnight, Texas, American Dreams, The Bear, and Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty. On top of his starring role in Never Have I Ever, Barnet was also recently seen in supporting roles in the movies Road House and Anyone But You.
