One Chicago fans have only one more week to wait for the start of the new seasons of their shows.
And, “Chicago Fire” fans will see the return of Taylor Kinney as fan-favorite character, Lt. Kelly Severide.
Season 9 of “Chicago Med” starts at 8 p.m., followed by season 12 of “Chicago Fire” at 9 p.m. and season 11 of “Chicago P.D.” at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024.
The season debut episode of “Chicago Med” is called “Row Row Row Your Boat on a Rocky Sea.”
The storyline is, “When the E.D. is flooded with patients from a crash, the entire team is pulled in to help; Charles can’t shake the feeling that he knows the new E.D. attending; Archer has second thoughts on the eve of his kidney transplant.”
The first episode of “Chicago Fire” is called “Barely Gone.”
Kinney, a Lancaster County, Pa., native, took a hiatus from the show last season to deal with what was called a personal matter. On the show, his character left town for an arson investigation training program. Kinney has portrayed Severide on the show since it launched in 2012.
The storyline for Jan. 17 is, “Firehouse 51 is forced to share space with Firehouse 17; Kidd and Herrmann fight over Ritter; an arson case tests Kidd and Severide’s relationship; Firehouse 51 says goodbye to one of its own.”
Alberto Rosende, who portrays firefighter Blake Gallo, will make his last appearance on the show in the season premiere. Kara Killmer, who portrays paramedic Sylvie Brett, also is making an exit although it is unclear when.
“Chicago P.D.” also is losing a cast member – Tracy Spiridakos, who portrays Det. Hailey Upton Halstead, is reportedly leaving.
The season debut episode is called “Unpacking.”
The storyline is, “Tasked with shadowing a crisis prevention team, Upton finds her approach to policing at odds with the team’s mental health clinician; Voight stands by Upton as she continues to struggle in her personal life.”
Spiridakos’ on-screen husband, Det. Jay Halstead, portrayed by Jesse Lee Soffer, left the show last year.
