“Craziest You Will Ever See Westeros”: House Of The Dragon Season 2’s Targaryen War Teased By Star

Aemond Targaryen actor Ewan Mitchell teases the fraught state of Westeros as the Targaryen war gets underway in House of the Dragon season 2.
House of the Dragon star Ewan Mitchell teases the Targaryen war to come in season 2. Serving as a prequel of sorts to Game of Thrones, HBO’s new spinoff show adapts Fire & Blood by author George R.R. Martin. House of the Dragon season 1, which explored the origins of the conflict between former friends Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower, concluded its 10-episode run last fall, with season 2 now confirmed to be arriving next year.
Now, as the House of the Dragon season 2 release date approaches, Mitchell, who plays Aemond Targaryen, teases in an interview with Collider some of what’s to come in the upcoming batch of episodes. While not revealing anything specific about the story, the actor promises that Westeros may be even more violent than viewers are used to. Check out Mitchell’s full comment below:

“I mean, you guys know… when a Targaryen is born the gods toss a coin. One side is greatness and the other side is madness. We’ve got a whole family of these guys. So this is possibly the craziest you will ever see Westeros.”
House Of The Dragon Season 2 Will Have Even More Action

The House of the Dragon season 1 finale sets the stage for an epic conflict to come. As tensions rose between Rhaenyra (Milly Alcock, Emma D’Arcy) and Alicent (Emily Carey, Olivia Cooke) throughout the first batch of episodes, it all came to a head in episode 10, “The Black Queen,” when Aemond inadvertently kills Luke (Elliot Grihault). The final shot of the season is of a distracting Rhaenyra as her grievance boils over into rage, teasing that there will be big repercussions.
While season 1 featured plenty of scenes of violence and even one fairly epic battle scene, season 2 already has more conflict baked into the central narrative. In the upcoming batch of episodes, it looks like the action will grow in scale and take center stage, with Rhaenyra and Alicent now firmly locked into a violent struggle in which talking and diplomacy are no longer feasible options. The House of the Dragon season 2 trailer has already teased as much, with Westeros further deteriorating as more families and locations are swept up in the Targaryen civil war.
Game of Thrones also provides a fairly strong indication of how the spinoff will evolve over time. While the mothership show was always violent, the amount of action increased with each passing season, with epic battles becoming far more common as the series barreled toward its conclusion. It remains to be seen how events will unfold in House of the Dragon season 2, but it sounds like viewers should expect Westeros to become even more dangerous than usual.
