Tom Selleck isn’t ready to say goodbye to ‘Blue Bloods’ just yet.
Blue Bloods will officially end with its 14th season – half the episodes will air this spring when the series begins on Feb. 16 and then the second half will air in the fall, so there’s a ways to go until it’s done.
But fans of the series who are saddened by its demise were recently heartened to read that they’re not alone. Series star Tom Selleck, who plays NYPD Commission Frank Reagan, isn’t ready for the end either.
He recently told TV Insider that he sees the possibility of more stories involving the Reagan clan.
“CBS will find an awful lot of people aren’t ready to say goodbye to it,” Selleck said. “The show’s more popular than ever, and I think [numbers] will increase with the interest this year. We’re certainly not out of ideas.”

It will be interesting to see if Blue Bloods ends with Frank retiring as the commissioner, but don’t look for Selleck to follow suit when the series wraps. He is currently working on his memoir You Never Know: A Memoir, which will be released on May 24, and if we’re lucky, he will finally have the time to write the next installment in the Jesse Stone series of movies.
“I’m not counting the days so I can do something else,” Selleck said. “I love the work. Sometimes the hours are a little harder because I’m older, but so what? I want work as long as they’ll have me.”
Blue Bloods season 14 begins airing on February 16 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
