Everything We Know About Station 19 Season 7: Release Date, Cast, and Story Details

Station 19 season 7 is on the way, with the return of Andy, Ben, and the rest of SFD Station 19 set for 2024. ABC’s second Grey’s Anatomy spinoff Station 19 follows the professional and personal lives of the Seattle firefighters of Station 19, exploring the struggles that come from balancing one of the most dangerous careers on Earth with the regular tribulations that come with any workplace. With a cast led by mainstays Jaina Lee Ortiz, and Jason George since season 1, the by now heavily invested viewership is more than ready for Station 19 to continue when season 7 arrives on ABC.

Station 19 premiered on March 22, 2018, after a backdoor pilot premiered on March 1, 2018, with Grey’s Anatomy season 14, episode 13 “You Really Got a Hold on Me.” As a Shondaland production, the show has a similar feel and tone to other series created Shonda Rhimes. While it may not be the juggernaut that Grey’s Anatomy is, Station 19 still has a dedicated following and plot that has kept audiences gripped for six seasons, and season 7 should have all the drama and action of the previous seasons when it arrives on ABC.

ABC confirmed the release dates of multiple scripted shows in November 2023, one of which was the long-awaited Station 19 season 7. Like most of the network’s scripted content, production on the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff was halted throughout the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. With the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA strike on November 9, work could then resume. A week after the strike concluded, ABC announced multiple premiere dates for their delayed content and confirmed that Station 19 season 7 would arrive in March 2024.

New Showrunners Are Taking On The Grey’s Anatomy Spinoff

Station 19 season 7 was confirmed with one major change: Zoanne Clack and Peter Paige are taking over as showrunners. Clack, a head writer on the series, and Paige, who has directed multiple episodes, are taking over from Krista Vernoff, who served as showrunner since season 3. This could signal a change in tone for the series. Paige mentioned that he is excited for a “thrilling adventure,” which could imply there will be more action and firefighting scenes in Station 19 season 7 than before. Season 6 focused more on mental health and internal conflicts, so a pivot to more external adventures may be an exciting change for the series.

Who Is Returning For Station 19 Season 7?

Jay Hayden As Travis Montgomery In Station 19

The core cast of Station 19 are all expected to return for season 7. Very few main cast members of Station 19 have left the show over the years, so there aren’t expected to be many shakeups to the lineup. The Station 19 season 7 cast will include Jaina Lee Ortiz as Andrea Herrera, Jason George as Ben, Barrett Doss as Victoria Hughes, Jay Hayden as Travis Mongomery, and Danielle Savre as Maya DeLuca-Bishop.

Joining the longstanding Station 19 cast members are newer regulars Boris Kodjoe as Sullivan, Stefania Spampinato as Carina, Carlos Miranda as Theo Ruiz, Josh Randall as Sean Beckett, and Merle Dandridge as Natasha. These five actors were introduced on Station 19 after season 1 but have become prominent members of the ensemble. Any recurring characters who appear in season 6 could very well appear in season 7, but there have been no official announcements.

One cast member who won’t be returning for season 7 is Pat Healy as Michael Dixon. Michael died in the Station 19 season 6 finale, and has been written out of the show. There’s also a question mark around the return of Grey Damon as Jack Gibson. Gibson collapsed due to brain trauma at the end of season 6, which could mean his character has a reduced role in Station 19 season 7.

What Will Happen In The New Station 19 Season?

Story details for Station 19 season 7 have not been revealed. However, the Station 19 season 6 finale laid some plot threads wide open for further investigation. At the end of season 6, Ben and Carina successfully save a woman’s child, but the fate of the mother is left open. If Nanette does not survive to season 7, perhaps the child could be adopted by Carina and her wife Maya. A similar situation happened in Grey’s Anatomy with Jo Wilson, who adopted her daughter, Luna, as an infant.

With Michael Dixon’s death in the finale, a major antagonist of the show is gone, leaving a vacuum. Season 7 could see the rise of a new enemy. Theo could also be set up as the villain of season 7. Theo and Vic’s relationship on Station 19 has already deteriorated with just one promotion of the former. If he is promoted again, his ego could swell even more. Finally, Natasha and Sullivan’s secret relationship was publicly exposed at the Firefighter’s Ball and the repercussions could be exploredStation 19 season 6 also strayed from Andy as the main character, and season 7 could refocus on her.
