Jaina Lee Ortiz, who played Andrea “Andy” Herrera on Station 19 has just made a big career move. After the show ended in May 2024, Jaina has set out to plan her next acting roles and has signed on with a new representative to see out movie and television possibilities.
Here is what Jaina has done and what might be next for the actress.
Station 19 Star Making Big Career Moves
Jaina Lee Ortiz played firefighter Andy Herrera for all seven seasons of Station 19. She was the fire chief for the Seattle Fire Department and was the former captain of Station 19. Ortiz was one of the most popular cast members and many fans have wondered what is next for the star since the show ended.
It sounds like Jaina is proactively planning the next steps in her career. She has changed agencies. Jaina recently signed with William Morris Endeavor (WME) for representation. She left Verve to make this move. WME represents everyone from Ben Affleck and Christian Bale to Alicia Keys, Meghan Markle, and Jennifer Garner.
This comes after Ortiz helped lead Station 19 to seven great seasons. The firefighter show was a spinoff from Grey’s Anatomy. Showrunner Shonda Rhimes handpicked Ortiz to lead the drama, which follows the lives of the men and women at the Seattle Fire Department’s Station 19.
Ortiz also got to cross over with Grey’s Anatomy in four episodes. Much like how Meredith Grey had to overcome the comparisons to her mother, a doctor in Seattle, Andy also had to face overcoming the pressure of living up to her dad’s reputation as a beloved fire captain.
Jaina Lee Ortiz’s Career
Before Station 19, Ortiz also starred in the Fox police drama Rosewood with Morris Chestnut. However, her career has been mostly small outside of the two television roles. She starred in 105 episodes of the Grey’s spinoff with four other crossover episodes. She starred in 44 episodes of Rosewood.
Other than that, she appeared in a total of only 20 television episodes across Scream Queens, The Shop, Modern Family, The After, and Shooter. She also has a limited list of movie roles, most of which are short films or smaller-budget indie movies.
Her only major movie roles came in Girls Trip in 2017, where she played herself in a cameo, and The Long Game, a sports drama from 2023 starring Dennis Quaid. With such a limited filmography, it is no wonder she has looked into new representation.
In other Station 19 news, Jay Hayden, who played firefighter Travis Montgomery, just signed on to play a recurring role in the franchise series FBI: International.
