Bode’s Firefighter Return In Fire Country Season 2 Gets Cautious Tease From Co-Creator & Star

Bode’s Firefighter Return In Fire Country Season 2 Gets Cautious Tease From Co-Creator & Star

Max Thieriot hints that Bode won’t be behind bars for too long in Fire Country season 2. Debuting on CBS in October 2022, Fire Country centers on Bode Donovan (Thieriot), a convict with a troubled past. To redeem himself and shorten his prison sentence, he volunteers as a firefighter for Cal Fire. However, in the Fire Country season 1 ending, Bode ends up back in prison, and it’s related to drugs. Though he’s done nothing wrong, he accepts the blame so that his friend Freddy (W. Tré Davis) can go free.

In an interview with TV Insider to promote Fire Country season 2, Thieriot was asked how long it will be before his character gets back to firefighting. Though he doesn’t give a direct answer, the actor and co-creator hints that Bode will be back to his regular responsibilities before long:

You’re gonna have to wait and see, I think. You know, obviously, we know that, that everybody wants to see Bode fight fire and so… I can’t tell you exactly, but you won’t have to wait long.

Bode’s False Confession Will Impact Fire Country Season 2

In a previously released clip from Fire Country season 2, it’s confirmed that Bode has been behind bars for six months. Despite all the time that’s passed, he’s in no hurry to leave. To the dismay of his father, Vince (Billy Burke), Bode even says that he’s where he belongs.

However, it’s possible that Bode is trying to clear his name in that dangerous environment. If that’s his goal, it won’t come without a cost. Though some still believe him, Bode failing a drug test and getting hauled away behind bars will leave its mark. As Thieriot mentions in the same interview, Bode let a lot of his friends and family down.

It’s known that Empire and Dynasty reboot actor Rafael de la Fuente has joined the CBS show for at least three episodes. De la Fuente will play Diego, described as a charming and motivated paramedic and firefighter, in addition to a combat vet who served in Afghanistan. Diego will train Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila) for her paramedic certification. The two will reportedly hit it off, which could make Bode worry, given that the shocking season 1 finale drove a bit of a wedge between him and Gabriela.

From the sounds of it, especially with a potential Fire Country spinoff looming, it won’t take too long for Bode to clear his name and get back to firefighting. Even if the CBS drama eventually does shift its focus, and Bode gets the win he expects, it’s possiblehat the ramifications of his well-intentioned lie could linger for the rest of the season.
