Friends Reunion Will Now Film Outside Says David Schwimmer
The Friends reunion is getting one step closer as David Schwimmer reveals that parts of it will be filmed outside for safety precautions.
Parts of the upcoming Friends reunion will be filmed outdoors, according to David Schwimmer. The reunion of the successful comedy show has been a long time coming and was unfortunately delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, leaving fans to wait for over a year. Friends runs for ten seasons on NBC, becoming an instant phenomenon that explores the lives of six young friends living in New York City. While the series concluded in 2004, it is still one of the most popular TV hits, becoming one of the most-streamed series when it was on Netflix. It has moved since over to HBO Max with a new generation discovering the series.
Since HBO Max announced that they were doing a reunion with all six cast members, fans have been anxiously waiting for the premiere amidst a series of delays. But every now and then, certain cast members will remind fans that the reunion is still at play and will be worth the long wait, with some teasing that certain tidbits of the reunion have already been filmed. Now it seems that they are getting one step closer to filming.
Per ET Canada, Schwimmer, who plays Ross Geller on the show, says in an interview with Andy Cohen that parts of the reunion will be filmed outdoors due to safety precautions. Schwimmer stated that in April, he will fly out to Los Angeles to film the reunion while Cohen poked around to find out who is hosting the reunion, after Schwimmer confirmed it will not be Ellen DeGeneres. Schwimmer’s quote and the full video can be viewed below:
Actually, in a little over a month I’m heading out to L.A. So, finally, I mean, we figured out a way to film it safely and there’s going to be a portion of it that we filmed outside because of, you know, for safety protocols.
The news ties in to Caseys Bloys’ statement that the reunion will film this spring. Clearly everyone is doing everything they can to have all the Friends appear together. With Schwimmer flying out soon, one can only assume it will be the time when the rest of the cast will be together for filming. Despite all of them having done”>With the show being so popular and continuing to be talked about so much even today, a reunion would have to live up to very high standards, so it would be a letdown if the cast were to reunite over Zoom like other shows from their decade have done during the root of the pandemic. Additionally, the money truck that HBO Max is providing for all six actors totaling about $20 million is not a bad inclusion.
With Schwimmer flying out soon, one can only assume it will be the time when the rest of the cast will be together for filming. Despite all of them having done various projects since Friends, they will all be remembered for these roles that they played for a decade. It will certainly be exciting to see all of them together since the show concluded its run seventeen years ago, and it seems like the clock is ticking down to that.
