The hit series “Yellowstone,” America’s most popular show, was expected to be a highlight at PaleyFest 2023, the top TV festival in the U.S., held in Los Angeles. However, fans were disappointed when the Paramount+ show’s delegation appeared nearly empty-handed. The main issue was Kevin Costner’s fallout with the production team.
Only Josh Lucas, Dawn Olivieri, Wendy Moniz, and Mo Brings Plenty attended, despite earlier announcements that series creator Taylor Sheridan would be present. The situation has been further complicated by Costner’s ongoing issues with the show, which have resulted in a delay for the planned conclusion of Season 5, originally slated for the summer of 2023.
Costner, who is set to star in the upcoming Western film “Horizon” alongside Sienna Miller, seems to be motivated to leave “Yellowstone” to focus on this new project.
Paramount Hopes for Costner’s Return for Season 5 Finale
At PaleyFest, Keith Cox, President of Development and Production at Paramount, attempted to reassure “Yellowstone” fans. “What I can say is our star, the face of our show, and the executive producer are very confident he’s going to continue with our show,” Cox said regarding Kevin Costner.
As the actor playing patriarch John Dutton, Costner is a crucial part of the series, and writing him out would be a complex task. Dawn Olivieri, who did attend PaleyFest, expressed uncertainty about Costner’s future but remained hopeful. “I’ve already been killed once. I’m coming back to life. It happens to the best of us. I don’t know what’s going to happen with him. I hope I get the chance to work with him. I do.”
