For three seasons, Jay has been left in the dark. He knows that there are spirits in his house, but he hasn’t seen them. That’s going to change in Ghosts Season 4.
It can’t be easy for Utkarsh Ambudkar on the series. He hasn’t been able to make eye contact with this costars except for Rose McIver throughout the last three seasons of the series. He made it clear that would change while at SDCC 2024. That means he’ll be able to see ghosts.
Right now, Jay interacts with them despite not seeing them. He tries to get involved in their lives and their drama, but there’s only so much he can do when he doesn’t know where they are in a room or what they’re actually saying.
How will Jay see the spirits in Ghosts Season 4?
What’s not yet clear is how Jay will see the spirits. The only way for it to happen in the show is to have a near-death experience. Sam was clinically dead for a while. When she woke up, she had been on the other side long enough to now see the other side. Will Jay go through something similar?
That seems unlikely. After all, part of the comedy of Ghosts is Jay not being able to see the sprits at all.
It could be something temporary. Maybe in the Halloween episode, something happens that allows the veil between the living and the dead to come down for the night. This could allow Jay to interact with all the ghosts for a night before then having to go about the rest of his life just knowing they are there. At least he knows what they all look like!
Another option is through his dreams. We know that Sas has the ability to get into the dreams of the living. Maybe he can go into Jay’s dream and make sure Jay sees him. Could he pull someone else into the dream as well? That will be interesting to see.
Ghosts Season 4 premieres on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 8:30/7:30c on CBS. Catch it the following day on Paramount+ via Amazon Channels.
