‘Titanic’, one of cinema’s greatest classics, celebrates 25 years of release this Monday (19). James Cameron’s film presented a spectacle of visual effects unprecedented at the time, causing a real sensation among moviegoers across the planet. It’s a film that everyone has seen.

Jack and Rose with other ‘faces’
‘Titanic’ has one of the most iconic couples in Hollywood history. Jack and Rose made Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet completely change career levels. But the duo might not have entered the scene, as other names were mentioned. Matthew McConaughey, Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt and even Macaulay Culkin were considered to play Jack
As for the role of Rose, Nicole Kidman, Gwyneth Paltrow. Winona Ryder, Uma Thurman, Claire Danes and Madonna appeared in contention for the role. Winslet insisted a lot on getting the role and ended up winning the contest.

Director James Cameron, in a way, stayed on the Titanic longer than the passengers themselves. In the process of producing the film he carried out 12 expeditions to the wreckage of the real Titanic.

Single take flooding
The scene in which the hall with the grand staircase is filled with water could only be performed once. All the sets and ambience were destroyed in the sequence, so they could only do one take. In total, more than 300,000 liters of water were used at the scene.
Cameron does it all
In addition to directing, James Cameron also edited, produced and scripted the film. A real jack-of-all-trades. What’s more: in the scene where Jack draws Rose, the artist responsible for the lines is Cameron himself.

Titanic is one of the record holders for nominations and wins at the Oscars, the most famous cinema award. In 1998, the film competed in 14 categories and won 11 statuettes
Even with so many awards wins, the film did not win any acting statuette, Kate Winslet was competing for best actress and Glória Stuart, the elderly Rose, was competing for supporting actress. And DiCaprio wasn’t nominated.
