Wait, Ellen Pompeo Is Really Hinting ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Is Nearly Over

After years of being the head surgeon in charge on Grey’s Anatomy, Ellen Pompeo is hinting she might leave the show after season 16 in 2020.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Pompeo said she still cares about the show, and while she’s not ready to make an official announcement, she’s basically ready to move on because there’s not many stories left for her to tell on the show.

“I am really feeling like we have told the majority of the stories that we can tell, “she said. “It’s about time that I mix it up. I’m definitely looking for a change.”
You don’t need to be a doctor or a rocket scientist to figure out this exit could mean the end of Grey’s altogether because what are the chances there would be a Grey’s Anatomy without Meredith GREY!??? Seriously, somebody let me know, because I’m freaking out!

In January, Pompeo told Deadline she wants her next project to be behind the scenes. Pompeo said, “I’d love to direct a pilot. I really like producing, that’s really challenging for me… Producing and directing is where I’m challenged and where I’m learning. It’s more interesting to me because it’s a skill I haven’t mastered yet.”

Of course, her latest interview could just be a way to look like she’s ready to move on and use it as negotiating tactic for her next contract to get more money or something, which let’s hope that’s the case and she’s not really leaving the show.
If she’s serious, once this awful news sets in, I’ll need a gurney and someone to resuscitate me. Please and thank you!
