Surprise! The Rookie Star Welcomes New Baby: ‘Our Hearts Are Overflowing’

Jenna Dewan’s family just got a little bigger! The actress, who stars as Bailey Nune on ABC’s The Rookie, welcomed her third child — and second with fiancé Steve Kazee — on June 14.

Dewan and Kazee shared the happy news on Instagram one week later, revealing that they welcomed a baby girl named Rhiannon Lee Kathryn Kazee. “From the moment you arrived, you have brought immense joy and love into our lives,” the couple wrote alongside photos from the C-section delivery. “Your gentle grace, sweetness, and beauty have captivated our entire family. Our hearts are overflowing with love, and we are truly blessed by your presence. Welcome to our world baby girl 🤍.”

On her Instagram Story, Dewan hinted that her newborn daughter’s name was inspired by the Fleetwood Mac song “Rhiannon,” sharing an audio clip of the track. She also posted a picture of a book of names that described the moniker as the “divine queen of faeries.”

Dewan and Kazee are already parents to son Tatum, 4, whom they welcomed in March 2020 just one month after Kazee proposed, and the Step Up star shares daughter Everly, 11, with her ex-husband Channing Tatum. After announcing Rhiannon’s birth, the newly minted mom of three shared a video of her two other children meeting their baby sister. Set to The Cinema Orchestra’s “To Build a Home,” Dewan captioned the post: “… & our family is now whole 🤍.”

“[Everly] is the oldest, so she gets it the most. And I think because she was still so young when Callum was born, this will be really special for her,” Dewan explained. “She’s just going to have more responsibility, but she’s also going to have more wisdom to her.”

Despite being officially outnumbered by kids, Dewan plans to continue to work and film Season 7 of The Rookie. “There’s three schedules versus two, and I do work full-time, and it’s a giant moving calendar at all times,” she told PEOPLE of her hectic schedule. “But I have an incredible partner and I’ve gotten it a little bit down now, how to multitask with schedules. You have to be okay to be open and ask for help when you need it.”

The actress will miss the first few episodes of the season, however. “As you know, Jenna [Dewan]’s about to have a baby in real life, so we probably won’t see [Bailey] for the first few episodes because of that,” showrunner Alexi Hawley told TVLine after the Season 6 finale. This means that viewers will not be seeing Jason Wylver, who is played by Kazee himself, for awhile as well. Jason is Bailey’s abusive ex-husband, who was sentenced to eight years in prison for drug charges in Season 4. He reappeared in the finale after breaking out of prison, determined to exact revenge on Bailey. “I think we’re looking at how we can spread stuff out so we’re not just all diving into all of it at the beginning,” Hawley said of the Bailey/Jason drama.

It’s unclear how Dewan’s maternity leave will be written into the show since her character was not pregnant in Season 6 and had only just started exploring the idea of having children with husband John Nolan (played by Nathan Fillion). When asked why he didn’t write Dewan’s pregnancy into the script, Hawley told TVLine in February 2024 that they already had a storyline involving Bailey and John beginning “conversations” about having kids. “This was the first time that I got an “I am pregnant” phone call from an actress where I didn’t step into the writers room and go, ‘OK, this is what we’re doing this year…,’” he said.
