The Rookie Season 6 Finale Trailer All But Confirms A Popular Villain Theory (With A Twist)

The Rookie Season 6 Finale Trailer All But Confirms A Popular Villain Theory (With A Twist)

Since the premiere of The Rookie season 6, many have sensed one new character is not as good as she seems, and while episode 8 proved these suspicions were correct, the trailer for the finale implies she isn’t the evil mastermind of the season. The ABC procedural crime drama television series, created by Alexi Hawley, has introduced numerous “Big Bads” over the course of its six seasons, including great villains such as Rosalind Dyer and Nick Armstrong. Some believed Danielle Campbell’s Dr. Blair London, Aaron Thorsen and Tim Bradford’s therapist, would join these ranks in season 6.

Blair was a little suspicious when she was introduced during The Rookie season 6, episode 1. Campbell’s character didn’t do much to confirm she was evil, but her first appearance coming after Monica Stevens’s phone call to an unknown villain was enough to warrant theories. As the season continued, Blair’s actions fueled the theory that she was the “Big Bad,” and her involvement in shady business was confirmed in episode 8 when she interacted with Monica during the hospital shooting. It’s evident that Blair and Monica are working together, but there’s still a lot to learn about their respective roles.

The Trailer For The Rookie Season 6’s 2-Part Finale Suggests Blair Isn’t The Big Bad
Danielle Campbell’s Blair Might Not Be As Evil As Some Previously Predicted

The Rookie season 6’s villain theory claims that Blair is the evil mastermind behind the Federal Reserve robbery (and the group leader). Following the season 5 finale, many thought Boyd Taylor was in control, but the season 6 premiere proved he wasn’t at the top (especially when someone ordered a hit on Boyd after he was captured and on his way to jail, fearful he might become a liability). However, episode 8 and the trailer for the two-part finale imply that Blair is just a pawn in someone else’s game.

Monica and Blair’s interaction in episode 8 suggests that Monica is controlling Blair, not the other way around.

Blair’s scene with Monica in The Rookie season 6, episode 8, teased that Monica is ranked above Blair in this mysterious crime syndicate. Monica was annoyed that the therapist was at the hospital, while Blair told her, “You said no one was going to get hurt,” referring to Metro walking into a trap. Blair (and Mad Dog from Metro) were likely the moles who warned the criminals about the raid, leading to the planted IED. But Blair seemed horrified about the explosion (and Monica murdering the assassin who was sent to kill her), indicating she isn’t in charge.

Monica and Blair’s interaction in episode 8 suggests that Monica is controlling Blair, not the other way around. The trailer for The Rookie season 6 finale all but confirms Blair’s position in this group, as the video includes John Nolan telling the therapist, “I’m not the one you need to be afraid of. I’m your best shot at getting out of this alive,” while a short clip of Monica plays. The preview seemingly implies that Blair is unwillingly working for Monica (and perhaps someone else).

Who The Rookie Season 6’s Big Bad Could Be, If Not Blair
Two Former Villains Could Be Season 6’s Evil Masterminds

If Blair hasn’t been in control during The Rookie season 6, a few other people are possible candidates for the “Big Bad.” Of course, Monica is an antagonist who is involved in the evil plans looming over the season. But her phone call during the premiere proves that she likely isn’t at the top of this crime syndicate.

Someone Monica previously worked for could be in charge — Elijah Stone. Elijah was arrested in season 5, but when he got to prison, the former cartel leader met Oscar Hutchinson (a former low-key villain in The Rookie), and their interaction hinted at a team-up between them. Perhaps Elijah and Oscar have been pulling the strings behind the scenes this entire time, and their plans will be revealed during the finale of The Rookie season 6.
