Justin Hartley On Jensen Ackles’ Importance In ‘Tracker’ Season 2
Justin Hartley is more than excited to see Jensen Ackles back on Tracker. There were concerns that Ackles wouldn’t be able to return. After appearing last season as Colter’s brother, Ackles signed on to star in a new show on Prime Video. However, he made his schedule work and returned anyway for Season 2.
Now, Justin Hartley has said how important it is to have Ackles back on Tracker this season. Here is what Hartley had to say about his co-star.
Justin Hartley Says Jensen Ackles ‘Levels Up’ Tracker
Thanks largely to his Supernatural role, Jensen Ackles has built up a massive fanbase. The fan favorite was a nice addition to Tracker in Season 1. He showed up as Colter’s older brother, Russell. They were estranged, with Colter believing Russell had something to do with their dad’s death.
However, the two worked together, and Colter realized he might have been wrong all these years about his brother. Now, Ackles is back as Russell in the second episode of Season 2, and Hartley said that it helps bring the show to “the next level.”
Jensen and I have known each other for a long time; we just never had a chance to work together,” Hartley said (via PEOPLE). “Jensen is the perfect guy to play Russell. It’s such a well-fleshed-out character in the book and even more so with what we’ve done on the show.”
Tracker is based on Jeffery Deaver’s novel series (four novels have been released from 2019 to 2022). Deaver is also responsible for the Lincoln Rhyme series, which Denzel Washington’s Bone Collector movie was based on. While there are limited Tracker novels, the TV series is a huge hit.
What Will Jensen Ackles Do In Tracker Season 2?
The good news is that fans don’t have to wait long for Jensen Ackles to show up in Tracker Season 2. Russell will be back in the second episode of the season, “Ontological Shock.”
The synopsis for the episodes reveals what brings back Colter’s brother. After searching for a missing father, Colter disappears. This worries his handler, Reenie (Fiona Rene), so she calls Russell to help hunt down Colter. Since both brothers were trained by their dads to track, it makes sense he would be the person to find Colter if something happened.
“We got him, he’s coming back,” Hartley said when he first revealed Ackles was coming back to Tracker for Season 2. “We’re having fun with that. It’s a great story.” Showrunner Elwood Reid said Ackles would be back for more than one episode as well. “When we text him [he says], ‘Tell me where and tell me when,’ and he shows up,” Reid said.
