If you’re looking for a gripping police procedural, CBS’s “Blue Bloods” has you covered. Since its debut in 2010, the series has showcased the complexities of the New York City Police Department and the legal system, tackling a wide range of intriguing criminal cases. At its core, however, “Blue Bloods” is also deeply rooted in family dynamics, with the Reagan clan’s personal struggles often taking center stage.
Throughout the series, the Reagans have navigated a rollercoaster of emotions, facing loss, conflict, and various tragedies, but they’ve also celebrated significant milestones. One standout character is Nicky Reagan-Boyle (Sami Gayle), the daughter of Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) and Jack Boyle (Peter Hermann). After graduating from Columbia University, Nicky moved to California to pursue her own career, which has led to her absence from the show; her last appearance was in Season 11’s “Atonement.”
Sami Gayle’s Dream for Nicky
In a December 2020 interview with Glitter Magazine, Sami Gayle shared her thoughts on Nicky’s character arc. When asked about her ideal storyline, she expressed a desire to see Nicky join the NYPD, given her family’s legacy. Gayle mentioned that she would love for Nicky to go on another ride-along with her uncle, NYPD detective Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg).
As fans await Nicky’s potential return to “Blue Bloods,” it’s clear that Gayle is enthusiastic about revisiting her character and reconnecting with the cast she considers family. Reflecting on her time on the show, she once said, “I have grown up surrounded by the most consummate professionals and role models and a second mother in Bridget [Moynahan].”
Though Nicky’s storyline has taken a backseat for now, many hope to see her back on the show, possibly exploring some of Gayle’s envisioned plotlines in the future.
