‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ receives ‘Golden Raspberry’ award

The 18+ movie adapted from an erotic novel was awarded “Worst work” while the main star couple received the “Worst screen duo” award at Golden Raspberry 36.
The 36th Golden Raspberry Awards announced the winning list on February 27. In addition to winning the “Worst Movie” award with Fantastic Four, 50 Shades of Gray was also awarded the “Worst Screenplay” award. Jamie Dornan received the “Worst Actor” award, while co-star Dakota Johnson received the “Worst Actress” award. The star couple who starred in the adaptation of the erotic novel also won the “Worst Screen Duo” award.

50 Shades of Gray was adapted by female director Sam Taylor Johnson from the novel of the same name by female writer E. L. James. The film had a budget of 40 million USD and grossed 570 million USD worldwide. This is Universal’s most popular 17+ movie ever. In the UK, the film is labeled 18+ but is still the most popular film banning children under 18 in the history of the British silver screen.

Along with the “Worst Movie” award, Fantastic Four was awarded the “Worst Remake” award. The film’s director Josh Trank received the “Worst Director” golden statue.

In the acting category, the actor who won an Oscar for his role in The Theory of Everything – Eddie Redmaye – was awarded the “Worst Supporting Actor” award for his role in the movie Jupiter Ascending. At the same time, he was competing for the “Best Actor” award for his leading role in The Danish Girl.

On the contrary, Sylvester Stallone won the “Star Rising to Success” award. Last year, the veteran actor had a highly appreciated supporting role in the movie Creed. He has a chance to receive an Oscar for this role.
