Nicola Coughlan will not tolerate being body-shamed for her in Bridgerton’s third season.
In a recent interview, the actress took the time to address critics, revealing she finds it insulting to be hailed as “brave” for baring all in the series.
“Don’t call me brave, I have a cracking pair of boobs,” she said in a recent interview. “There’s nothing brave about that, that’s actually just me showing them off.”
She admitted that filming the intimate scene with Luke was scary because of the nudity. But it wasn’t gratuitous – the scene aimed to capture the beautiful moment where “he [Colin Bridgerton] made her [Lady Whistledown] feel truly loved”, Nicola said.
“I’m so proud of that scene.”
She has previously criticised the lack of roles for women with fuller figures.
“You know, it is hard because I think women with my body type – women with perfect breasts – we don’t get to see ourselves onscreen enough,” she said.
“I’m very proud as a member of the perfect breasts community, and I hope you enjoy seeing them.”
Nicola’s co-star, Simone Ashley, who plays Lady Kate Sharma, also came to her defence.
