“We were two days into shooting the new episodes when we got the call,” Clack shared. “I was on a panel, and when I got the news, I texted and asked if it was important. They said it could wait, but I felt I needed to leave right away.”
Paige added, “We wanted to make sure they heard it from us before any leaks occurred. We quickly gathered the cast, writers, and crew for a meeting.”
Despite the show’s strong audience ratings—a 92% approval on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7.0/10 on IMDb—Disney Television Group President Craig Erwich stated that the decision to cancel was based on the belief that the story had reached a natural conclusion. He praised Station 19 for establishing its own identity separate from Grey’s Anatomy.
The cancellation came as Clack and Paige had just taken over as showrunners in April 2023, leaving them with limited time to develop the series. Fans are hopeful that the remaining episodes will provide a satisfying conclusion to the beloved series
