Donnie Wahlberg Reveals Emotional Goodbye as Tom Selleck’s Tears Flow After Blue Bloods Finale

As Blue Bloods approaches its conclusion, the cast, including Donnie Wahlberg and Tom Selleck, are reflecting on their final moments together. Wahlberg recalled an especially poignant scene after filming the finale, describing Selleck standing quietly in the back, tears in his eyes. “It just was like the waterworks turned on. I could literally cry just thinking about it,” he shared.

Selleck, who portrayed Wahlberg’s father on the show, has taken on a fatherly role in real life as well. “We have real conversations. We work,” Wahlberg explained, noting their collaborative dynamic on set. “It’s not just me showing up and saying, ‘Tell me what to do, Tom.’ We respect each other and have a back and forth.”

Wahlberg believes that fans will find satisfaction in the finale, which he described as emotional and hopeful. “There’ll be a lot of tears. I think the same kind of tears we had, but there is… a very sad scene in the middle of the final episode that will be very emotional,” he said. “It feels like a finale, but a hopeful, forward-thinking finale.”

Despite the sadness of the ending, Wahlberg expressed immense gratitude for his time on the show. “I’ve been in my band for almost 40 years and doing this show for 13 years, and I’m so grateful for it,” he stated.

The cast’s final day of filming was filled with mixed emotions, with Selleck noting the numerous hugs exchanged. Abigail Hawk, who plays Abigail Baker, added, “There is sadness, there is joy, and it is all wrapped up in the same beautiful final moments.”

Selleck has openly expressed frustration over the show’s cancellation, feeling it was “always taken for granted” despite its success. He admitted, “It’s going to take a long time to sort all of this out.”

Fans can look forward to the final eight episodes of Blue Bloods, set to air in December, as the cast bids farewell to a series that has been a significant part of their lives for over a decade.
