Tracker Star Shares Hopes for What’s Next With Jensen Ackles After Season 2 Return
Tracker star Justin Hartley recently discussed the upcoming second season, revealing his expectations for the show’s continued exploration of Colter Shaw’s relationship with his on-screen brother, Russell (Jensen Ackles). Russell Shaw will feature more prominently in Tracker Season 2, which premieres on October 27.
In an interview with Collider, Hartley addressed what he would like to see with the relationship between the brothers in Tracker Season 2, given the family bombshell that was dropped on Colter in the first season. “When Colter finds out exactly what’s going on – and I’ve struggled with that because there are so many different ways to skin this cat and I don’t know which way is better or more interesting – and he learns the absolute, undeniable truth,” he said. “Does he find out from his sister? Is it from his brother? Is it his mother? Is it a combination of all three? Is it none of them? Is it Jennifer Morrison’s character coming back? Is it a new character? There are so many different ways we could do that, and they’re all interesting. I don’t know which one is better.”
Despite all the drama, Hartley hopes Colter and Russell can resolve their differences by having deeper conversations about their childhood in Tracker Season 2. “But it would be nice to have a resolution between the two. They kind of had that when Russell came on, by the end of it, but the two of them could have more conversations about their childhood,” he said. “A lot of times, two kids growing up in the same house have completely different recollections of what went on in that house, even though they were living in the same house at the same time with the same parents and in the same circumstances.”
It’s amazing what the human brain will do to protect the heart.
Hartley continued, “It’s amazing what the human brain will do to protect the heart. So, I think those could be some interesting episodes. It’s also cool to go out and do a two-hander show and kick ass.”
Justin Hartley Believes a Key Theme in Tracker is Family
Hartley also discussed what he wanted to carry over to Tracker’s second season from the first. The actor believes that family is an important universal theme and a key element of the show. “Family seems very basic, but every single person that walks the earth has a story about their family. Even if you’ve never met your family, that’s a story,” he said. “Everybody has wants and desires when it comes to their family, and things they didn’t get and regrets. Family is something everybody can relate to. It’s never resolved. It just gets more and more complicated. It’s very relatable, which is key.”
