As CBS’s hit police drama “Blue Bloods” approaches its end after a remarkable 14-season run, fans are buzzing about the possibility of spin-offs. With the final eight episodes now airing, Donnie Wahlberg, who plays Detective Danny Reagan, expressed his enthusiasm for the idea in a recent interview with TV Insider.
Wahlberg took a moment to celebrate the show’s legacy and thanked dedicated fans for tuning in each week. When asked about the potential for continuing his character’s story, he stated that he would be open to it—under one condition: the spin-off must capture the spirit of “Blue Bloods.”
“There’s been a lot of talk about various spin-offs. For me, as long as it’s done with the same care and family focus that we’ve had in ‘Blue Bloods,’ I’d be excited to be part of it,” he shared. He mentioned hearing ideas for prequels and sequels and emphasized his love for the show, noting, “Whatever comes next, as long as family is at its core, I’m all for it.”
While Wahlberg is enthusiastic, he reminded fans that they should cherish the remaining episodes of the series. He looks forward to watching them alongside fans and engaging with them on social media every Friday night.
Tom Selleck, who plays Commissioner Frank Reagan, also weighed in on the possibility of continuing the “Blue Bloods” universe, stating he would keep returning as long as he’s in demand. The series finale, titled “End of the Tour,” is set to air on November 29, featuring the main cast, including Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, and Len Cariou. Fans eagerly await the send-off of this beloved show while speculating about what might come next.
