Everything you need to know about Gordon Ramsay and his family.
Gordon Ramsay is a self-made man who trained with some of the world’s leading chefs, such as Albert Roux and Marco Pierre White in London, and Guy Savoy and Joël Robuchon in France before launching his own empire.
He began in 1998, at age 31, with the opening of his namesake restaurant, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, which was awarded three Michelin stars. Since then, he’s opened a string of successful restaurants in cities across the globe, including Doha, Qatar; Las Vegas; Atlantic City, N.J.; Singapore; Dubai and several restaurants throughout the U.K.
At the same time, the chef became a TV personality, who today in the U.S. hosts MasterChef, MasterChef Junior, Hell’s Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares and Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted, among others. (FOX’s MasterChef Junior returned in 2022 and wrapped up with Season 9 in May.)
And along the way, Ramsay managed to marry and become a father to six children with wife Cayetana “Tana” Hutcheson: Megan Jane Ramsay, twins Jack Scott Ramsay and Holly Anna Ramsay, Matilda “Tilly” Ramsay, Oscar Ramsay and brand-new addition Jesse James Ramsay, whose birth Ramsay announced on Nov. 11, 2023.
So far, none of Ramsay’s kids want to follow in his footsteps and become a chef—although daughter Tilly does have TV credits as a presenter on her CV and joined her dad as one of the judges on the ninth season of MasterChef Junior.

Who is Gordon Ramsay’s wife?
Gordon met Cayetana “Tana” Elizabeth Hutcheson in 1992 when he was 26 and she was only 18. They dated for four years before marrying in December 1996. A Montessori-trained schoolteacher, Tana went on to become a bestselling author with six cookbooks geared toward families looking for simple and delicious meals and a TV presenter. She was born on August 23, 1974, in Croydon, Surrey, and she does most of the cooking for the family.
Who are Gordon Ramsay’s kids?
Megan Jane Ramsay
Born May 16, 1998, Megan, 26, is the eldest of Gordon’s children. Despite two celebrity parents, Megan avoids the media whenever possible, but she did allow her father to throw her a birthday party on an episode of Hell’s Kitchen. She studied psychology at Oxford Brooks University, graduating in 2019, and works as a police officer.
Holly Anna Ramsay
Born Dec. 31, 1999, Holly, 24, took a fashion course at Ravensbourne University in London, has worked as a model and is also a mental-health advocate via her podcast 21 & Over, and a documentary producer with more than 375K Instagram followers.
Holly co-hosts 21 & Over with psychotherapist Talitha Fosh, on which she revealed that she had been sexually assaulted twice when she was 18 years old. She hopes to help other young people through their issues with “anxiety, self-doubt, mental health and creating identities in today’s world.”
She also produced Holly Ramsay: The Talk, a documentary short about sexual education.
Holly has no interest in following her father into the kitchen. In fact, Gordon made fun of a TikTok video of Holly’s in which she attempted to make his potato gnocchi recipe.
Jack Scott Ramsay
Born Dec. 31, 1999, Jack and Holly are fraternal twins. Jack, 24, has a love of sports. He played rugby in high school, and also has played water polo and studied Jiu-Jitsu. He attended Dulwich College and then Exeter University. In October 2020 after finishing his degree at Exeter, Jack joined the Royal Marines.
Matilda “Tilly” Ramsay
Born Nov. 8, 2001, Matilda, 22, is the most likely to follow somewhat in her father’s footsteps. Tilly is an influencer who’s best known for presenting the BBC cooking show Matilda and the Ramsay Bunch on CBBC alongside her family, out of which came the cookbook Matilda & The Ramsay Bunch: Tilly’s Kitchen Takeover, and has made guest appearances on several of her father’s TV shows.
Tilly joined her dad as one of the judges on the ninth season of MasterChef Junior, as well as its holiday special.
“We laugh, he makes me laugh all the time,” she told PEOPLE about her time with her father on set. “We annoy each other, don’t get me wrong. We tease each other constantly.”
In 2021, she competed on Strictly Come Dancing, the original British version of Dancing with the Stars. Gordon congratulated her with a post on Instagram which noted she’s one of the youngest dancers ever!
Tilly Ramsay also competed on Season 13 of MasterChef Australia, where she surprised fellow competitors by telling them she’s not allowed in her dad’s restaurants.
“I’m not even allowed in my dad’s Michelin-star restaurants, so I don’t know what to do,” she said. When pressed, she doubled down, saying, “I’ve been once.”
Gordon and Tilly also share a birthday: Nov. 8. He posted last year: “I’m the luckiest Dad in the world to share my birthday with this gorgeous young lady @tillyramsay Happy Birthday darling love you.”
Oscar James Ramsay
Born April 4, 2019, 5-year-old Oscar keeps his parents on their toes. He has his own Instagram account, which has over 300K followers and is managed by his sisters Tilly and Holly.
Here is one of the most recent posts of Oscar with Gordon.
Jesse James Ramsay
Ramsay announced the birth of his youngest child, a son, via Instagram on Nov. 11, 2023. “What an amazing birthday present please welcome Jesse James Ramsay, 7lbs 10oz whopper!!” he said, hinting that the child arrived on Nov. 8, like his dad and sister Tilly.
Ramsay also indicated that the little one would be his last. “One more bundle of love to the Ramsay brigade!! 3 boys, 3 girls,” he wrote. “Done.”
On Feb. 5 this year, Ramsay shared a funny and adorable photo of baby Jesse scowling at the camera. “Somebody’s not happy with his breakfast 😳!” the celebrity chef wrote in the caption. “Jesse’s stare downs are just like his dad 😂.”
What Gordon Learned Not to Do as a Parent From His Father
“That terrible word when they turn around and say, ‘I told you so,’” Gordon told Mythical Kitchen’s Josh Scherer on his Last Meals interview show. “That’s the condescending bulls–t you never want to tell your kids. Six amazing kids. We’re incredibly lucky. All I’ve taught our children is find your passion, find your way and do with fame, fortune, money. They all work. Meg, our eldest, is an amazing police officer. Jack is in the Royal Marines and so he’s dedicating his life to the Marines. Tilly is at university. Holly is into fashion. Oscar is playing Herrod in a nativity play. He had two words to say in his play and he balls them up because he spotted his mum, and obviously, Jess is months old.
“But I always say, ‘The earlier you tell me, the more I can do.’ And so, unlike my father—I didn’t have a close relationship with him—he was always the condescending type. ‘I told you so.’ Kids want to hear, ‘What have we got? How do we salvage? And what’s the comeback?’ And honestly, that comeback for me has been my life because that journey upwards has been one of the most exciting journeys. Because I still feel like I’m coming back from that moment. And every time I teach these kids a lesson, and we’re allowed to make tiny mistakes, but just don’t repeat that mistake.”
Gordon on His Approach to Making His Kids Financially Responsible
“When we started traveling and sitting in amazing business or first class, I’d always say to them, ‘Think what you could do with the money when we get there. We’ll get you on together. We’re all bloody getting off. And, if you think we’re paying $10,000 for a business class ticket because you’re a Ramsay, forget it,” Gordon told Mythical Kitchen’s Josh Scherer on his Last Meals interview show.
He continued: “Every time they got their allowance every month, a couple hundred dollars, if they saved that up across the 12-month period, I would match that at Christmas for them. And they’d got to stay true to their form by saving every dollar, and so when you start that practice at 10, 11, 12, 13, they got their part-time jobs, all of a sudden, their minds are focused about their career paths. That was the opposite of how I grew up. And so, they are super disciplined and they are on it.”
Did Gordon and Tana suffer a miscarriage?
Yes. Tana became pregnant in 2016 with a boy, who they named Rocky. However, five months into her pregnancy, she suffered a miscarriage. At that time, Gordon posted on Facebook: “Hi guys, Tana and I want to thank you so much for your support over the past couple of weeks. We had a devastating weekend as Tana has sadly miscarried our son at five months. We’re together healing as a family, but we want to thank everyone again for all your amazing support and well wishes. I’d especially like to send a big thank you to the amazing team at Portland Hospital for everything they’ve done. Gx.”
Megan and Jack shortly thereafter ran the London Marathon in memory of their unborn brother.
“That was awful,” Gordon told Mythical Kitchen’s Josh Scherer on his Last Meals interview show. “That situation was devastating, and it was incredibly moving to see the tightness. Any woman having to experience that, that was just awful. But what it did do, it made us incredibly closer. And so, we’d never have had Oscar if we hadn’t lost Rocky. And now with Jesse, there’s positivity coming out of that, but it’s amazing how you bond. That room. It was closed, no interruptions, and we just had that moment together as a family. Those moments are powerful because it unites. Every time someone meets our kids, they say, ‘I can’t believe they’re so normal.’ They are beyond normal, humble, and I guess the only worry I have is no one wants to cook for a living.”
