The threats on Sharon Goodwin’s (S. Epatha Merkerson) life come to the forefront once again in the next episode of Chicago Med, as Archer and Lennox butt heads once again. In the preview for Episode 6, “Forget Me Not” we get a glimpse of Chicago P.D.‘s own Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) at Chicago Med telling Goodwin that he needs to escort her to a safe location, and there isn’t even time to what’s going on to Dr. Charles. Meanwhile, Archer screams at Lennox, “You made a bad call and you know it,” adding “You’re going to answer for this” as Lennox looks on, seemingly disturbed by whatever went on.
There isn’t much to go on, but we have enough backstory on both storylines already. Archer and Lennox have been at each other’s throats since she arrived to co-lead the ED with him, and it’s easy to see a situation where they disagreed on a course of treatment and things went Archer’s way. That could be enough to push Dean Archer, who is already reeling due to the news that his son is moving back to Florida, to crack.
For a long time, Archer had nothing but his job. Then, for a while there, he had Sean. He was helpful to Sean. He felt like he had a purpose outside of what he was doing in the ED. Now, it seems like without Sean around Dean Archer is back to making his job his whole purpose, and that’s not good for him-or for anyone who works with him. But Lennox doesn’t seem like the type to let herself be scared by Dean Archer, even if she did make a mistake. So, whatever happens, it looks like Archer and Lennox will be at each other’s throats for a while to come.
Also in the preview for Chicago Med Season 10, Episode 6, “Forget Me Not,” we pick the thread of Goodwin being in danger back up and things are starting to look very dangerous. At the end of Episode 5 “Bad Habits,” Goodwin learns that someone broke into her house. So the danger is real. Now, with the police getting involved, it seems that whatever danger she’s in has just become immediate. Whether the danger comes from a former patient, a disgruntled employee, or someone in her personal life, the show is clearly ready to explore this now.
It’s a good storyline, if only because Sharon Goodwin is one of the original Chicago Med characters and one of the most beloved. Because of that, though, it’s hard to believe anything will actually happen to her. At most, she’ll get a scare, and the show will have a high-stakes episode where we get to be concerned about the possibility of losing her. But hey, considering this is a show based around an ED, if they really want to go hard they can make it so Goodwin ends up in the ED herself, and the team that she carefully picked has to be the one to save her. Now that would be quite a storyline.
