The cast and crew of Blue Bloods have officially wrapped filming, marking the end of an era. In a heartfelt moment, Tom Selleck, who plays NYPD Commissioner Frank Reagan, honored this bittersweet occasion with a special poem.
In an interview with TV Insider, Tom shared insights about filming his last scene, which he noted was a family dinner—ironically, the same scene that marked his very first day on set 15 years ago. “I’m not going to reveal everything about the final episode,” he said, “but that dinner beautifully brings the Reagan family together. Erin’s daughter Nicky (Sami Gayle) and Danny’s son Jack (Tony Terraciano) were there too. We all felt it was important to keep that moment private, even though others had more scenes to shoot.”
As filming progressed, the moment came when he realized he had finished his work. “We were filming for hours, and then suddenly they announced, ‘That was the last shot,’” Tom recalled. “I always wanted to recite the poem ‘Love Is Not All’ by Edna St. Vincent Millay. There were tears, and plenty of hugs. Donnie was really emotional; he didn’t say much. Bridget shared some words, and Vanessa [Ray] was visibly affected by the moment.”
It’s understandable—Blue Bloods is one of the longest-running police procedurals on primetime television. Since its debut in 2010, fans have devoted their Friday nights to following the Reagan family and their adventures. On Friday, October 18, viewers will have the chance to catch the final eight episodes before the series concludes. But fans need not worry; all 14 seasons are available to stream on Paramount+.
