Iain Armitage Honors Young Sheldon’s Final Day of Filming and Looks Back at His First Day on Set

“I don’t think this kid could have anticipated what it would feel like to film our final scene all these years later,” Armitage wrote over a photo of himself as an 8-year-old actor on ‘Young Sheldon’
Iain Armitage is looking towards the future by taking a walk down memory lane.

In a series of photos shared to his Instagram Stories, the Young Sheldon star, 15, revealed that The Big Bang Theory prequel had wrapped its last day of filming after CBS announced that the series will be concluding with its 7th and final season in November 2023 .

“Today was our last day of filming,” Armitage wrote after reposting the series’ producer Alex Reid’s photo of the set. “What a joy, honor and a privilege.”

After his long and final day of filming, the actor didn’t leave before sharing a photo of the Warner Brothers studio lot at sunset in the subsequent slides. He captioned the post, “End of the day, driving [off] the lot for the last day of filming @youngsheldoncbs — I’ve loved it here at Warner Brothers.”
In a longer tribute posted to his feed, Armitage reflected on his first day on the Young Sheldon set when he was just 8 years old in 2017. While paying tribute to his time on the hit series, the actor opened up about how he’s been impacted by the role after playing young Sheldon Cooper after all these years.

“This is 8 yr old me getting ready to film the very first scene I did as Young Sheldon,” he wrote alongside a throwback photo of him holding a brief case on set. “@melissapeterman recently asked what I would go back and tell my younger self. Maybe I wouldn’t tell him anything and I would just let life unfold as it does, but I think he’d be so surprised and happy to see where we are now. I’m sure.”

“I don’t think this kid could have anticipated what it would feel like to film our final scene all these years later,” he continued, concluding, “Thank you, amazing crew, past and present, and those who have been there the whole time. I love you all so much!”

Armitage wasn’t the only Young Sheldon star to get sentimental.

In a series of photos shared to her Instagram Stories, Raegan Revord posted a few shots on set that featured details including a letter addressed to Lance Barber’s George Cooper, a bookend and a half-eaten KFC dinner.

Revord also shared a behind-the-scenes look of the cast and crew watching one of the show’s last scenes get filmed.

“Cast and crew watching Meemaw and Dales last scene together before they series wrap,” she wrote as she and her costars were pictured offering bittersweet smiles.
Young Sheldon followed Big Bang Theory character Sheldon Cooper’s life as a 9-year-old child prodigy living with his family and attending high school in Texas.

The series starred Armitage in the titular role, and also featured Revord, Barber, Zoe Perry, Annie Potts, Montana Jordan, and Jim Parsons, who portrayed Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory, as the voice of Sheldon.
