Rose McIver, who plays Jay’s wife Sam, shared her excitement during an interview at New York Comic Con. She noted that this new ability for Jay will significantly alter the dynamics on set. “It certainly changes the onset dynamic because Utkarsh gets to play with his fellow actors in a way that he hasn’t been able to,” she explained. This shift allows for a new level of interaction that the cast has been looking forward to.
Brandon Scott Jones, who portrays Isaac, a revolutionary war ghost, echoed McIver’s sentiments, highlighting the collaborative spirit of the ensemble. “When we’re on set, we really work through scenes together,” he said, noting that Jay’s absence from certain rhythmic interactions has been a challenge. “Allowing him to be a part of that process just felt so wonderful and new.”
Román Zaragoza, who plays the Lenape ghost Sasappis, added that witnessing Utkarsh’s genuine joy at seeing the ghosts for the first time was heartwarming. “Getting to witness Utkarsh smile for the first time was just beautiful,” he remarked. Jones chimed in, emphasizing how this moment allows Jay to truly connect with the ensemble.
Sheila Carrasco, who plays Flower, teased that Jay’s reactions to seeing the ghosts will be unique and tailored to each character, based on what he’s heard from Sam. McIver elaborated, hinting that the ghosts may not match Jay’s long-held expectations, adding an intriguing layer to his first encounters.
