While Bridgerton fans eagerly await the fourth season, set to premiere in the summer of 2026, some tantalizing details are already emerging about what’s to come. Recently, actress Yerin Ha, who plays Sophie Baek, shared an intriguing pop culture comparison regarding her character’s romance with Benedict Bridgerton (played by Luke Thompson).
In a conversation with TV Insider during the Dune: Prophecy premiere in New York City on October 30, Ha revealed that, while there aren’t many direct influences on Benedict and Sophie’s love story beyond the pages of Julia Quinn’s An Offer from a Gentleman (the third book in the Bridgerton series), she couldn’t help but draw a parallel to one of literature’s most beloved couples.
Speaking about a particular scene she filmed for Season 4, Ha said, “It’s funny because there was a scene, and I literally said to Luke, ‘You’re giving Mr. Darcy vibes 100 percent. So, I guess Pride and Prejudice for me.’ I don’t think the showrunners are thinking that, but for me, I’m thinking Pride and Prejudice.”
For Ha, this subtle connection to Pride and Prejudice makes sense, given the classic romance between Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy, which shares many similarities with the will-they-won’t-they tension that Benedict and Sophie will experience in the upcoming season.
What to Expect in Bridgerton Season 4
Season 4 of Bridgerton will focus on the blossoming romance between Benedict, the second-eldest Bridgerton sibling, and Sophie Baek, a maid who conceals her true identity behind a masquerade ball disguise. The couple’s love story will draw inspiration from An Offer From a Gentleman, where their first meeting at the ball leads to a whirlwind of passion and drama, much like the romance at the heart of Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.
In a recent promotional video, Ha and Thompson teased the dramatic moments from the book, reading excerpts aloud. Thompson began with, “This year’s most sought-after invitation must surely be that of the Bridgerton masquerade ball to be held Monday next.” Ha continued, “Indeed, one cannot take two steps without being forced to listen to some society mama speculating on who will attend.” Thompson added, “And perhaps more importantly, who will wear what.” Ha responded, “You know what this means, don’t you?” Thompson’s reply: “I believe it means we have a ball to get ready for.”
Bridgerton Season 4 will premiere in August 2026. Fans can look forward to more romantic twists and turns before then—while catching up on past seasons, currently streaming on Netflix. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates as we count down to the highly anticipated release!
