Chicago Med’s Biggest Twist Yet: The Real Culprit Revealed

Chicago Med fans are understandably concerned about Sharon Goodwin as they try to unravel the mystery of who might be stalking her. There are plenty of theories swirling, but one stands out as a definite possibility.

Who’s Sharon Goodwin’s Stalker in Chicago Med?

CHICAGO MED --

The Goodwin stalker storyline has been getting downright scary, after she first received a death threat in the third episode. She opened a note that read: “I’m going to put a knife to your throat and watch you bleed out!” The dangerous situation escalated when Goodwin spotted a shadowy figure in her home after looking at the neighbor’s security footage.

In a Reddit discussion about Goodwin’s stalker, one Chicago Med fan floated “a possibly unhinged theory” that’s not entirely far-fetched. They point to the recent firing of one doctor, who may have a motive to harass Goodwin. Dr. Zach Hudgins (Conor Perkins) first appeared in Season 8 as a first year resident in Emergency Medicine. He was fired by Dr. Caitlin Lenox (Sarah Ramos) in Season 10’s first episode after he abandoned a patient because he was overwhelmed by the blood and death of a mass-casualty accident.

“So in Season 10, Episode 4 when that maintenance guy was in Goodwin’s office and he said he broke her frame, at first glance I thought it was Zach (Hudgins). What if that’s his dad??” the Reddit user wrote. “After that scene where Lenox fired him in such a cold way I’m sure he was devastated. I know it also makes sense for it to be any of the staff that got laid off but I wouldn’t be surprised if the stalker ended up being a family member trying to get justice.”

Some agreed, with comments like, “I like this theory!,” “It could happen,” and “I have had a feeling it is Zach.”

Another fan responded, “Zach got fired in Episode 1. Goodwin got the first threat we saw in Episode 3. So being Zach or a family member could be correct.”

One person commented with another theory, noting, “I still think it’s the guy who slammed the door when Ripley was waiting outside Goodwin’s office. He had a gray coat, like the heads of departments. But I don’t know how long this story can last. Do you think it’s going to end up with a kidnap or Goodwin/Dennis getting injured maybe before the Xmas break?”

Another fan agreed, writing, “That’s who I think it is too.”

One fan poked some holes in the original Reddit user’s speculation, however, writing, “The maintenance man being Zach’s dad would be a big stretch. He would have popped up like a neon sign when they did the audit of possible internal threats. It would take a lot of soap opera style writing to explain away how his presence wasn’t known and for him not to be under at least low level watch.”

The synopsis for the November 6 episode hints that it’s a former co-worker who is harassing Goodwin. The Season 10 Episode 6 logline explains: “Chicago P.D. steps up Goodwin’s security after she’s threatened online by a former employee; Archer and Frost treat victims from a disciplinary camp injured during a rockslide; Maggie gets roped into delivering a high schooler’s baby.”

According to the Chicago Med synopsis for the upcoming eighth episode, airing on November 20, the Goodwin mystery may not yet be solved. The synopsis for Episode 8, titled “Love Will Tear Us Apart,” reveals that “Goodwin’s troubles persist.”

Some fans fear that the Goodwin stalker storyline could continue for many more episodes before it’s resolved. In another Reddit discussion about the show, one person noted, “I can see it being dragged out to at least the mid-season finale, more so I can see it returning in the season finale in May within the last like, two minutes of the episode, therefore leaving Goodwin’s life on a cliffhanger similar to the Will and Natalie crash in Season 4.”

Another person commented, “I think we’ll get this story at least until Christmas break. I wonder if we’ll get a reprise later on (or some repercussions, maybe even physically, like an injury).”

Chicago Med is available to stream on Peacock.
