I’m done with Bode and Gabriela, please end Fire Country season 3
Bode and Gabriela have been a “will they/won’t they” Fire Country relationship since the show began, but that needs to change in season three (despite their teased scene in the Fire Country season 3 trailer). The pair’s chemistry and mutual attraction were fun at first. But now, two seasons and 32 episodes later, the Bode and Gabriela drama has gotten tired, and it’s time for both characters (and the CBS action series) to move on from their disappointing romance once and for all.
Fire Country season 3 will likely consist of around 22 episodes and will premiere on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
Created by Max Thieriot, Tony Phelan, and Joan Rater, the show centers on Bode de Thieriot, a convict with a troubled past who volunteers for Cal Fire to get his sentence reduced. In doing so, Bode reunites with his family and old friends in his Northern California hometown. He also meets Gabriela, a Cal Fire firefighter and paramedic who happens to be the fire chief’s daughter. Bode and Gabriela’s chemistry is instantaneous and undeniable. However, many factors (including their own choices and decisions) often keep them apart, and I personally still understand Bode and Gabriela’s story to this day. Land of Fire.
Bode and Gabriela’s Fire Country Romance Is Now More Annoying Than Engaging
Bode and Gabriela Have Proved They’re Not Right for Each Other
At first, the tension between Bode and Gabriela and the “will they/won’t they” aspect of their relationship in Fire Country was fun. Now, not so much. The back-and-forth between Bode and Gabriela is more annoying than interesting. Unfortunately, it looks like the couple’s drama will continue when Fire Country premieres season three, as shown in the CBS action drama’s first trailer for upcoming episodes. Bode and Gabriela’s romance doesn’t seem to be over yet, to my dismay.
As Seen (and Heard) in Fire Country In the Season 3 trailer, Gabriela asks Bode why he left her marriage (and she seems hurt that he did). Later in the video, Bode says, “This is a new beginning for both of us,” which is believed to be referring to him and Gabriela. The next scene shows Bode and Gabriela in bed together, foreshadowing their eventual reconciliation (since it’s reality and not a dream sequence).
Land of Fire I can’t really introduce anything new into the couple’s story, and it’s hard to believe that Bode and Gabriela’s immaturity and stupidity in their relationship will change overnight.
However, I hope that the steamy scene in the trailer is just a dream, because Bode and Gabriela have proven time and time again why they shouldn’t be together. Land of Fire I can’t really introduce anything new into the couple’s story, and it’s hard to believe that Bode and Gabriela’s immaturity and stupidity in their relationship will change overnight. Maybe they need to separate as individuals before they can grow together. But for now, Bode needs to leave Gabriela after his wedding in Fire Country Season 3 (even if it doesn’t happen).
Diego’s potential death in Fire Country Season 3 makes Gabriela and Bode’s romance harder to accept
Diego doesn’t appear in the Fire Country Season 3 trailer
It’s one of the biggest clichés in the book – a TV show wants to bring two characters together (romantally), but one of them is already in a relationship, so they kill the other so they can be together. Thankfully, that’s not what’s going to happen with the Bode, Gabriela, and Diego love triangle in Fire Country. However, the first teaser for the next season’s trailer doesn’t instill much confidence that Diego will survive the premiere.

By all accounts (including a Fire Country video from season 3 that shows Gabriela without a wedding ring), Gabriela is not marrying Diego. The trailer shows their wedding being interrupted by a helicopter crash. It also includes a passionate scene between Bode and Gabriela, further suggesting that she won’t be continuing her marriage to Diego.
THE Fire Nation writers still need to explore Bode and Gabriela’s personal growth before I can accept them as a final couple.
The most disturbing part of the video, however, is that Diego is nowhere to be found. Of course, this leads me to believe that Diego could be dead in the meantime. Fire Nation is coming out with a season 3 release, which would make Bode and Gabriela’s romantic reunion all the more frustrating. Diego didn’t need to die for Bode and Gabriela to be together. His character doesn’t deserve it, and it would be reckless to force another “will they/won’t they” pairing.
Why Fire Country Season 3 Needs to Split Bode and Gabriela Apart Now
Bode is Finally a Free Man
Diego aside, Bode and Gabriela shouldn’t be looking to Fire Country Season 3 for their personal character development. Bode is finally a free man. Discovering who he is outside of prison (and becoming a real firefighter) is much more compelling than Bode and Gabriela returning to their old ways.

The two characters aren’t mature enough to be together yet. Plus, Bode could find a new love interest in Fire Country Season 3, which could set him up for his eventual reunion with Gabriela. However, the Fire Country writers still need to explore Bode and Gabriela’s personal development before I can accept them as a final couple.
Fire Country is an action-drama series produced for CBS that follows Bode Donavan, a man in the middle of a five-year prison sentence who is looking for redemption. With his only chance to do so, Bode enters a unique prison release program where he will have the remainder of his sentence commuted if he works as a firefighter in Northern California. His chance at redemption begins to turn into a confrontation with his past when Bode is sent back to his hometown – the place where his life took a wrong turn.
