Daddy Trailer Reveals Chicago Fire Fan Favorite in New Sci-Fi Dark Comedy

A new trailer has dropped for Daddy, a thought-provoking sci-fi dark comedy starring Yuriy Sardarov, best known for his role on NBC’s hit series Chicago Fire.

Flickering Myth has unveiled the trailer and poster for Daddy, a dystopian dark comedy co-written and co-directed by Neal Kelley and Jono Sherman, marking their feature film debut. Daddy is being released theatrically and digitally by Anchor Bay Entertainment, which most recently released the horror film Abruptio with Jordan Peele.

What is Daddy About?

Daddy is set in a dystopian society where the state has the power to determine who can and cannot father children. Four men attend a government-mandated retreat in the remote mountains of California. When they arrive, there’s no guide or instructions waiting for them. So, left to their own devices, they must prove to themselves that they have what it takes to become fathers.

For the first initial seven seasons of the popular NBC drama Chicago Fire, Sardarov played the fan-favorite firefighter Brian “Otis” Zvonecek. Chicago Fire followed the lives of firefighters at the fictional Firehouse 51, and Sardarov’s character Otis was among the main original members. Otis was one of the first Chicago Fire characters to be introduced and regularly provided comic relief during times of stress and chaos. Sardarov is sure to bring his dramatic and comedic talents that he honed on Chicago Fire for his performance in Daddy.

Co-starring in Daddy is Jacqueline Toboni, who is most known for her starring role in The L Word sequel TV series The L Word: Generation Q, which ran for several seasons. Toboni is also known among fans for her recurring role as Theresa Rubel “Trubel” on NBC’s supernatural Grimm series. Additionally, actress Britt Baron plays a pivotal role in Daddy, and she previously appeared as Justine Biagi in the critically acclaimed Netflix hit show GLOW, and as Tifa Lockhart in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy.

Daddy will be holding special roadshow screenings in December, with Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor, MI, on December 5 and Gardena Theater in Gardena, CA, on December 11. The film will see a theatrical release beginning January 24, 2025, and will be available on VOD starting February 25 via DISH. More information about Daddy is available on the film’s official page: Daddythefilm.com
