Tracker Season 2 Plot Update Reveals Secret About Colter’s Father and Brother Reunion
A new plot update for Tracker Season 2 provides more details about the secret about Colter’s father and previews Russell’s return as the brother. While the CBS action drama follows Justin Hartley’s Colter Shaw as a lone wolf who helps people find their loved ones in exchange for money, a larger mystery looms over the show’s first season about who killed Colter’s father, Ashton. That gets more complicated as we enter Tracker Season 2, as Ashton’s past may not be what it seems.
In comments for Entertainment Weekly’s preview of Tracker Season 2, which premieres Sunday, October 13 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS, showrunner Elwood Reid teased that a secret will be revealed about Colter and Russell’s fathers. It’s connected to a memory of Ashton that Russell has but Colter doesn’t. Read the excerpt below:
“[Russell] goes into overdrive. There’s a secret that’s revealed about their father in the first episode that comes to the brothers. There’s a memory that you’ll see that Colter doesn’t have what his brother has to Colter and his father.”
The mystery of Ashton’s death continues despite the brothers’ reconciliation
It’s unclear who killed Ashton.
Colter Shaw has a complicated family history, dating back to one night in 2003. Without his wife present, Ashton went on the run. He was driven by his paranoia, or at least that’s how Colter remembers it. In any case, Russell followed Ashton and Colter found his father dead an hour later. For a long time, Colter believed that Russell had put his father to death, but Russell denied it. In the face of this tension, the brothers reconciled when Russell appeared in season 1, episode 12.
The brothers even worked on a case together, joking about Russell’s naive flirting methods. It’s been confirmed that Russell will return in the second episode of Tracker season 2, with the possibility of more appearances depending on the plot and the availability of actor Jensen Ackles. But with Russell’s confirmed presence in multiple episodes, the mystery of Ashton’s death becomes more serious, thanks to the revelations in Tracker’s season 1 finale.
The hit show, based on Jeffrey Deaver’s Never Game novel and written by Ben H. Winters, ended its first season with the revelation that Ashton had an affair. It hinted that Colter’s mother was a suspect in his murder. But in any case, there’s more to the world. Tracker’s supporting characters. This is especially true with the sudden and inexplicable departure of original cast member Robin Weigert, who played Teddi Bruin.
Tracker follows lone wolf survivor Colter Shaw as he navigates the country in search of a bounty. Using his expert tracking skills, he helps citizens and authorities solve various mysteries while also dealing with his own fractured family.
