The Season 3 premiere of Ghosts on CBS left fans shocked and upset as the show confirmed the departure of a beloved character. Following Season 2’s cliffhanger, viewers were left wondering which ghost would be “sucked off”—the show’s term for a spirit’s final ascension. Now, fans know it was Flower, the free-spirited 1960s hippie played by Sheila Carrasco.
With Flower’s departure, viewers saw a fan-favorite character leave, and many took to social media to express their sadness. “Gonna miss Flower #GhostsCBS,” one fan wrote, while another expressed disbelief: “It’s Flower? I don’t believe it.”
Showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman explained their decision, revealing that Flower’s storyline had naturally led her toward this moment. “She had a lot of growth toward the end of Season 2, so it made sense for her to move on,” Port told Entertainment Weekly. The creators also hinted that her absence could stir up new dynamics among the characters, particularly for Thor (Devan Chandler Long), who was closest to her.
Flower’s exit, however, doesn’t necessarily mean she’s gone for good. Port hinted to Variety that the show’s supernatural elements leave the door open for future possibilities: “We’ve hinted that ghosts can appear in heaven, hell, and Earth, so there could be different ways to see Flower again.”
Despite the emotional farewell, Ghosts promises plenty more ghostly adventures and surprises for fans this season.
