‘Tracker’ Episode 2 Ending Recap and Explained: Will Colter Save Jackson?
Episode two is here, and our ‘tracker’, the tough and fast Colter Shaw, has another case. This time we see a little more of his family troubles, but there’s still a lot of mystery surrounding his brother. Episode two follows a conventional plot and is almost like the first half of a movie, but since the episode is only 40 minutes long, it has to come to a rather hasty conclusion. Justin Hartley is playing the role, but the other characters will soon have to come up with their own backstories because, so far, they seem like they’re just decoration.
Why did Colter visit his mother?
Colter’s mother wakes up after hearing a noise. She must have called Colter but since he wasn’t around, she went in herself to check on what was going on. It was a break-in, but nothing was missing. She must have wanted Colter there with her, and the good boy did. The natural question is: Why was nothing missing? Colter got a call from Russell in the previous episode, and maybe he’s trying to make his presence felt more strongly by staging this break-in. However, Colter’s mother says that the local kids might have done it as a sick joke. But I guess she’s just trying to calm herself down by imagining something nonthreatening. Colter has another case, and he has to leave. His mother understands what his job entails and doesn’t stop him.
What did Jackson’s parents tell Colter?
Teddi gave Colter the details of the new case, and Colter went to see Jackson’s parents. Jackson, a 27-year-old man and an accountant by profession, had apparently gone missing, and Jackson’s parents had a hunch about who might be behind his sudden disappearance. At first, Colter assumed something was up when he saw a photo of Jackson with a woman, thinking that his parents wanted him to bring their son back, as he was clearly in a relationship with the woman in the photo. She was considerably older than him, but Colter did not want to get involved in the family drama of breaking up a couple. But his parents insisted that something was wrong, as Jackson had not picked up his phone, and the last time he saw his parents, he had been acting unusually. The woman in the photo was Rebecca Smith, a woman with no record in any kind of database. Colter knew this because Bobby, the hacker working for him, had done a thorough search and the name did not come up. Perhaps it was an alias, which is why Bobby had built himself a facial scanner. A hit came up and the woman’s real name was found to be Rebecca Pendergast.
How did Colter get close to ‘Positive Light’?
Bobby had told Colter that Rebecca Pendergast had been arrested for insurance fraud and tax evasion. Nothing came of it, as all charges were later dropped. The natural step for Colter was to find Pendergast, as he hoped he would find Jackson with her. The police reported that Bobby had found an address and Colter had tracked her down. However, not only did he not find Jackson in Pendergast’s house, but he was attacked by two of her bodyguards. Colter now knew that Pendergast was no ordinary woman. She was definitely connected to some very powerful people, and Jackson was probably in much bigger trouble than Colter had imagined. Even after his scuffle with the guards, he follows them to a facility called Positive Light. A new age spiritual center, the facility is run by Seth, who has all the makings of a smiling villain. Colter sees Pendergast with Seth and knows that Jackson must be nearby.
Why does Jackson refuse to leave?
Seth is like a psychopath who enjoys getting into people’s heads by hitting their weakest nerve. Everyone has some kind of demon they’re fighting inside, and Seth has a knack for figuring out what they are. The guards have to give him information about Colter from their fight with him, and that’s enough for Seth to start his mind games. He calls Colter in and asks him to tell him a truth about his late father. It’s the only way he’ll let Colter see Jackson. Colter was quite determined in her approach to dealing with Seth and was not intimidated when Pendergast burned Seth’s hand, something Seth ordered her to do whenever he learned someone’s secret. It was purely an intimidation tactic to show how tough Seth was as he could smile while his forearm was marked with a red-hot iron.
Colter, more focused than ever, met Jackson in the facility’s garden where he was given his “mission”. Pendergast told Colter rather nonchalantly that Jackson had never been kidnapped. He was living in “TheColter sensed that Jackson had been lied to and gaslighted about what he was doing in the facility. Seth had made him feel important, but only because he wanted an accountant as talented as Jackson. He had cut Jackson off from his parents, and Pendergast had also worked her magic by offering companionship. Colter understood that Jackson could not be lured away, or he would never be able to escape the illusion that Seth and Pendergast had woven into him; he had to be shown the truth so he could break free. Time was of the essence, as Colter knew that Seth would get Jackson to do something illegal for him—something that would land Jackson in prison along with Seth and Pendergast.
