The season six finale of Virgin River was a rollercoaster, so let’s dissect the key moments from the most anticipated TV wedding of the year.
This season of the Netflix hit show centered around Mel Monroe (portrayed by Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) saying their vows, but not without a fair share of obstacles. From health emergencies to family disputes and even an unexpected rivalry, here are the pivotal elements of the wedding leading up to that jaw-dropping cliffhanger.
Let’s breakdown the pivotal moments of the latest season as fans wait for season seven, which has no confirmed date as of yet.
Did Mel’s father accompany her down the aisle?
Sadly, Mel’s father Everett Reid (John Allen Nelson) couldn’t make it to the ceremony as he had a heart attack the night before.
The trauma of nearly losing another paternal figure was too much for Mel, who needed a pep talk from Jack while Hope McCrea (Annette O’Toole) stalled with a lengthy speech on love. Her boss Vernon ‘Doc’ Mullins (Tim Matheson) was also quite upset when she asked Everett to walk her down the aisle, reigniting their old feud.
However, they eventually reconciled when Everett admitted he had tried to take his own life the night of his car crash, which resulted in Doc being unable to save a young boy’s life. Later, after Mel and Jack said their “I do’s”, Everett made a surprise appearance for the couple’s first dance, reports the Express US.
He sang the song he had written for Mel’s mother, which he had finally completed after all these years.
Did Mel and Doc make peace?
Before Mel’s wedding in Virgin River, she and Doc have an intense argument, the likes of which they’ve never had since her arrival. Even though Doc is like a father to Mel, she retorts with “You’re not my father” amid his anger over her closeness with Everett, including letting Everett help during an emergency.
After coaxing from Hope and Mel along with a heartfelt talk with Everett, Doc comes around and even walks Mel down the aisle whilst her real dad lies in the hospital (also gearing up for an unexpected performance).
Do Brie and Brady get back together?
This season’s complexities aren’t just about nuptials though – we’ve seen quite a drama unfold in the love quadrangle with Brie Sheridan (Zibby Allen), Dan Brady (Benjamin Hollingsworth), Lark (Elise Gatien), and Mike (Marco Grazzini).
