“The Rookie” season 7 officially has a 2025 air date!

Officer John Nolan will return to police duty following a multi-month-long hiatus withThe Rookie season 7 when the procedural debuts next month. In the last crimes that unfolded in the season 6 finale, two inmates, one of whom being Bailey’s ex-husband, broke out of the federal prison. Then, the FBI lost the notorious Monica while partnering with the LAPD. To make the situation worse, John was injured while on duty, which may derail family plans with Bailey.

Season 7 of The Rookie will hopefully close these cases, and it’s with confidence that they will. The sixth season only had so much time to unload everything at a quicker pace, as it was only 10 episodes. The storylines became hard to follow, and analysis was nearly nonexistent.

With the seventh season being comprised of 18 episodes, there’ll be more space for the narrative layout. I hope that it’s not a season-long affair to capture Monica as it’ll take away the other characters’ focus on their arcs. I like to absorb everything about a series and not just one plotline, unless everyone’s involved with it.

Aside from the added episode count, here’s what we know about season seven and it’s premiere date!

What to know about The Rookie season 7

You might want to set your calendars for Tuesday, Jan. 7, as that’ll be the day The Rookie returns on ABC. It will broadcast at 110/9c, following the season 3 premiere of Will Trent and the mid-season return of High Potential.

As always, you can DVR The Rookie or watch it the next day on Hulu in the event when you can’t wath it live.

We also have an exciting promotional teaser featuring John taking down the criminals, with Lucy providing insight into being a cop. Additionally, it appears that the storylines of Monica and the escaped prisoner will be put aside, as the narrative in the promo holds no correlation with them.

Who knows for sure though, as I’m giving a sheer observation from my perspective.

We’ll also be introduced to two new team members, Miles and Seth, to the LAPD force. They’ll be the new ‘rookies’ who’ll most likely be trained under John, who has been promoted since the first season. With one of the recruits being from Texas, I have a feeling that he’s going to have a harsh wake-up call once he starts taking assignments, as Los Angeles is filled with dangerous crime daily.
