The Rookie fans paid extra attention to the interaction between characters Tim Bradford and Lucy Chen on Tuesday’s episode.
Since Tim (Eric Winter) and Lucy’s (Melissa O’Neal) breakup in Season 6, many viewers have been championing for them to reignite their romance. This is evident in the way many reacted to a scene in the show aired on January 7. During the recent airing of The Rookie, newcomer Miles Penn (Deric Augustine) flirted with Lucy in front of Tim when they were in the office together. Immediately Tim intervened, reprimanding him for making googly eyes at Lucy as she just smiled to herself.
“TIM JEALOUS OF LUCY WE USED TO DREAM ABOUT DAYS LIKE THISSSSS #therookie,” one wrote on X. A second added, “Not only did Tim tell Miles to look away but he also said he wasn’t fit to breathe the same air as Lucy oh he’s down bad #TheRookie.”
Another shared, “I’m so weak. not Tim getting mad at the rookie for wanting to switch his T.O for Lucy.” Meanwhile, a fourth revealed, “The new rookie made a flirty comment to Lucy. TIM SAID NO LMAOOO#TheRookieSeason7.”

Season 7 of The Rookie premiered on Tuesday (January 7). The season premiere was jampacked with action as usual as characters Oscar (Matthew Glave) and Jason (Steve Kazee) escaped from prison.
Newly promoted Lieutenant Wade Grey (Richard T. Jones) is in charge of the search. Since all of his people kept coming up empty-handed, Grey temporarily promoted Office Lucy up to P3. In Lucy’s temp role, she gets to train the new rookie.
